OK, you know hip-hop culture is truly all-pervasive when Ken Macha, one of the whitest guys, like, EVER, refers to Esteban Loiza as "E-Lo".

IF YOU'RE ONLINE, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND TURN THE A'S GAME ON.

Trust me.  Exciting stuff as of 10:30pm EST.

as mentioned in the sfgate A's Blog last week: the A's have the worst TV deal in the majors -- last weekend 2 out-of-3 games were radio-only; and tonite's exciting victory (100th career win forZito, who took a no-hitter into the 7th) was also blacked-out. Utterly shameful for a first-place team going into the home stretch. And to add insult to injury, Sun nite's game, a 5pm start set up specifically on the assumption ESPN would pick it up, was passed over by them in favor of Cubs/Cards.

Well, that was one game, and he got no run support either.  They could do a lot worse -- that never-been-on-the-DL thing is quite a selling point -- and I'm sure he'd be happier staying in California.

I was surprised to see him on the mound yesterday, expected I'd see him tonight, I'm going to the game to get my Frank Thomas bobblehead. (Ah LURVES me some Big Hurt!)

It was 20-7 when I last looked, too bad they had to score one more & ruin an otherwise perfectly good football score.

knowing the Giants, they missed the extra point, and got a safety on Colorado!

A's come from behind yet again: moments after Chavvy missed out on a 3-run homer due to a ball that was foul by inches, Bobby Kielty hits a grand slam!

from Bruce Jenkins on the sfgate Giant's blog, writing about the A-Rod/Derek Jeter feud:

Quote
Interesting aspect to the Alex Rodriguez crisis in New York: It took Jason Giambi, not respected captain Derek Jeter, to lay down the law with A-Rod. The relationship between the two is icy, at best, Jeter having never forgiven Rodriguez for some unflattering remarks in Esquire magazine five years ago. An ESPN.com column quoted a Yankee official saying, "There is no coming back from one of Derek's grudges. Once you're gone, you're gone."

But here's my favorite part:

Quote
Added the writer, Bob Klapisch, "Rodriguez shouldn't feel that bad, really. Jeter apparently did the same thing to Mariah Carey a decade ago, cutting off their relationship so abruptly -- and remaining so determined not to let the singer back into his good graces -- that kids created the slang-verb 'Jeter-ed' to mean forever getting dumped."
