Eric Byrnes has been traded, and yea, there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of garment.  He and Barry Z were so good together ...

I loves me some Byrnsie, but he was never a management fave... I'm reading Moneyball and saddened as I am, this trade makes sense from a Billy Beane standpoint.

BTW whatever became of ESPN's Teammmates? I thought it was supposed to be a series?  I keep looking for a rerun of the Zito ep.

Just watched Rich Harden come within 5 outs of a perfect game. Faced the minimum thru 7 and a third, then gave up a flare to Soriano. Ended as a two-hitter, but man, the kid had some sh*t tonight. (And I mean that in a good way.)
Let's get right to it.

Here's hoping Jack Nicklaus makes the cut, and Tiger keeps up the pressure.

I was kinda bummed this morning because they didn't start coverage until 7am, when I leave for work.  It would be cool if Jack makew the cut, but I doubt it.

It really is amazing how the A's story is the same every year: slow start sometimes horrible months of May, and then... bam!  For all the griping about trading Mulder & Hudson (especially the "you traded THEM and kept ZITO???" comments),  Mr Beane begins to look like a genius once again.

Didja see the cover story in last week's SF Weekly about ESPN's Joe Morgan and how he HATES the A's, Billy Beane, and Moneyball?

This is probably old news to y'all, but I just learned today that BALCO's Victor Conte used to be a session bass player, and has played for Tower of Power, Herbie Hancock, and  best of all, a group called the "Pure Food and Drug Act"

Respectable 7-2 in the 9th. I'd like to see the Giants do that.

Well, they're beating LA 6-0 in the 8th...  a 2-game winning streak!

Beating LAby any margin is always good. Kicking ass is a real treat. I got sucked into some funky movie on Ch 2.

Except that I can't think of any team, not even the Devil Rays, who'd want a nonintimidating pitcher with an ERA over 5 who hasn't gone more than 6 innings since the Clinton administration.
