Yeah, I happened to be lurking the FO threads when you posted that, so pretty good timing all around.  Shoot me an email so I can get in touch with you when details get finalized.

hit me at mshray@sbcglobal.net if you don't hear from me first.

interesting look-ahead piece in today's Chon about this year's NL West.

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/01/24/SPGE8GS5QL1.DTL

a few things I didn't know:

Shawn Estes is now a Padre

Eric Byrnes is now a D'back

Bill Mueller is now a Dodger

and my favorite:  The Dodgers have "the public-relations nightmare of Derek Lowe, a married man, very publicly running off with Fox Sports Net West reporter Carolyn Hughes (she was removed from the Dodgers' coverage in July)."

A's are getting it together for the coming season. I might have to watch a bit.

Free agent slugger Frank Thomas agreed to a $500,000, one-year contract with Oakland on Wednesday, giving the Athletics the big bat they've been searching for in the middle of their lineup.

They're looking good, except for that signing of Milton Bradley (dunno WHAT they were thinking of there).  They should have another great year.

So who's doing what for the Super Bowl?  Am I the only one openly pulling for the Seahawks?

ETA:  Guess I should have asked that first, 'cause if it's true then the other question is moot & I could care less.

As my avatar indicates, I'm going with the Steelers, disappointed as I was that they beat da Colts.

RGs is having our usual SB Party -- our last event, actually, as the group is folding.

So Mike how was the ultimate RG event?

Curious as to what the other clubbers thought about the game.  I thought the officiating was atrocious, and (with the possible exception of ruling a Jeramy Stevens fumble an incomplete pass) every call/non-call went against my team.  Some of them were just god-awful.  Not saying they shoulda/woulda won, nor that there was a conspiracy, but man did it leave a bad taste in my mouth to see my team lose like that.  Oh well.

There really is nothing like watching a football game with gay guys who know and like the sport and who can appreciate, er, both aspects of a contest between 2 teams of big sweaty men.

But yeah, it was not a great game and of COURSE the officiating sucked -- they didn't have Ed Hochuli!

Damn. Saw it coming, but still hate to see him go. He wasn't his old self last year, but he's a sentimental fave nonetheless. Bet he hooks on as a coach somewhere in a year or two--he's got the right temperament for it.
Let's get right to it.

Do any of you do Fantasy Baseball?  I'm in one hardcore league in Boston, would consider entering a more casually fun (and free) one via Yahoo if anyone's interested.
