Oakland Coliseum: Goodbye upper deck!

But just for A's games.

Although eliminating the top deck for Raider games would mean a lot more of them get aired on TV locally.
Let's get right to it.

Former NFL'er and ABC Sports analyst Lynn Swann is running for Governor of Pennsylvania -- as a Republican.

No clue as to how right-wing he is (or isn't), so I put this in the Sports Thread.

JT going Red.

J.T. Snow and the Boston Red Sox reached a preliminary agreement on a $2 million, one-year contract.

Peyton got run over by The Bu-us
On his way to Super Bowl this year
You can say there's no such thing as Steelers
But they're the guys the other teams should fear

So Gang, other than Gaz rooting for the Stillers, do any of y'all have a clear favorite in mind for the duration of the playoffs?  Care to jump on my Seahawks may-the-best-NFC-and-former-AFC-West-team-win bandwagon?

There's an awful lot of bad sports mojo on the line in the Great Northwest.  Since any of us have been alive there's been one NBA championship ('79 Sonics), one NCAA Football co-championship ('91 Huskies) and one WNBA championship ('04 Storm).  In the meantime they've had the team with the best record bow out in the first round of their respective post seasons at least 4 times (this includes last year's top-seeded Huskies in the 2nd round* of March Madness) and many other highly favored teams get upset at some stage.  To say nothing of the dreaded East-coast Bias (which for all practical purposes includes LA).

*for the uninitiated, no #1 seed has ever come close to losing to a #16 seed, so a 2nd Rd loss to  #9 or #8 seed counts in this case.

Hey mshray, it's putnamp from FO.   Caught your post on FO; I put up a post on the ESPN Seahawks board seeing if anyone in the bay area was going to be watching the game someplace, and we're in the process of selecting a place.  I think they were looking at Ricky's in San Leandro, though nothing's been finalized yet.  How should I contact you for updates?  I'll let them know that there may be more people interested in joining up.

Dude, that was a very quick response.  I am in Castro Valley, so San Leandro is my backyard.   If I can get away from the wife & kids I will sooo be there.  I'm already mentally rehearsing my excuses.

Yeah, I happened to be lurking the FO threads when you posted that, so pretty good timing all around.  Shoot me an email so I can get in touch with you when details get finalized.
