yes, I was confused -- I was thinking of "Police on my Back" from Sandinista.

But -- DAMN! -- that was one of the best '77 sets ever.  Of course NYC in '77 was the epicenter of US punk/new wave, and clearly the Peak assumes its target audience remembers all those CBGBs stalwarts. Few on the West Coast were aware of Mink deVille at that time.  Kudos to Rob!

I'm glad to hear it; you'd never know it from Dave's sets, tho' I think Joel Selvin played some Mink recently on his Sun nite Bone show.  And Little Steven is a BIG Willy deVille fan,

Last nite's Selvin show, BTW, was an hour of Zappa.

I don't know if I can claim 1977, but I sure knew who Willy DeVille was by '78. KSAN was all over them, as was KZAP up Sacto way. As I recall, they were the opening act at a Winterland show with Rockpile as support, and Elvis Costello headlining circa This Year's Model.

if you mean that Hawaiian guy, I'm glad I missed it (and I didn't know it was that old -- it certainly didn't get airplay until years later).
