OMG! Southside Johnny! "Without Love". Wonderful.  those first 3 LPs are gems.

I never would have guessed who that was.  The horns and mildly dated production reminded me of Bo Donaldson & the Haywoods more than anyone else.  (And that's not an insult, I hasten to clarify -- I *loved* "Who Do You Think You Are" and hope Dave trots it out again next time we're in '74.)

here early and it's '86... figured this has to beat Dave's '86 sets... but dammit here's Crowded House, "World Where You Live".

not bad: REM, "Fall on Me", Mr Simon with a little-heard Graceland track, "Crazy Love" which gets BOS for novelty alone.

BOS2: Bruce covering Tom Waits' "Jersey Girl" -- a perfect uniting of artist and cover material.

Down the shore everything's all right...

OMG! BOS3! Smiths, "There is a Light That Never Goes Out."  Why is Dave's aversion to the Smiths (he has maybe 3 songs he plays occasionally -- from a catalog of a dozen-and-a-half alt-radio "hits") outdone only by his aversion to Janet Jackson?

Nothing remarkable in today's 1991 set, BOS to Matthew Sweet's "Angeline" just for being underplayed.  Bob's been on a roll lately, though, so I'll let this set slide.  :)

1991 on Wednesday.

Got in late, but nice segues from "...Teen Spirit" into Matthew Sweet's "Evangeline" into REM's "Me In Honey", a couple of those 2nd or 3rd tracks that Dave never seems to dig down to in latter year sets.

Special bonus: T2 movie ad in between the last two songs.

I always liked "She Talks To Angels" and it seems to be holding up well (imho)

Hope I can win Mark Knopfler tix on the 9:00 Pop quiz to day, it includes a backstage meet & greet.

This is the third time in the past 10 days I've heard Billy Idol's "Hot in the City" -- bizarre.

WOS to what I believe is a Rod favorite, DS's "Twistin' By the Pool."

BOS: a version of Bowie's "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" that I've never heard.  Very different, slowed-down arrangement.  Curious.

the soundtrack version, presumably.  He re-did it for Let's Dance.

That song makes me happy.  Haven't heard it in quite a while.

1981: OMG, it's Lene Lovich, "New Toy"!  Haven't heard this on the radio since I left NY.

Not as much fun to go from 1982 one day to 1981 the next, but BOS to footage from Stripes ("We are not homosexual.  But we're willing to learn.") and OMGWTF to Lene Lovich, "New Toy," which I would bet $20 Mshray has in his collection (or wishes he did).
