I occasionally run into him on the N going home in the evenings. I'll keep an eye out and let him know he's missed.
Let's get right to it.

The Star Trek Movie

I finally saw the movie last night, and really enjoyed it.  Have we all seen it yet (those that care), so are able to discuss plot aspects?

Sorry, haven't seen it yet. I've been saving it for Mem'l Day wknd, since none of the other "summer movies" so far this month appeal to me. So you'll have to wait another week  ;)

I saw it for the second time last night, this time with the whole fam-damily.  My 9-yr-old loved it, the 7 yr-old-thought it was okay, but a little scary at times.  My wife didn't get a lot of the standard sci-fi plot devices, and was non-plussed.

TNG prescience
« Reply #26 on: May 18, 2009, 10:24:19 PM »
As we're all waiting for everyone to see the movie before discussing, I am watching my usual Monday night overload of TNG episodes on the SciFi channel.  The episode is called "The Hunted."  It is a typical socially conscious plot based on how soldiers become hard to reintegrate into society.  While being typically preachy, it did seem particularly timely, using phrases about how what happened to the soldiers was 'the will of the people' and so on.  It seemed as if it were some current plot, based on the current war.  I mean, this wasn't all that subtle, but coming from 1990, I imagine it was based on Vietnam experiences?

Sci-Fi Channel has been doing a Twilight Zone marathon since yesterday; it climaxes tonite. And at 10:00, 2 of the all-time classics back-to-back: "To Serve Man" followed by Shatner in the orig version of "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet".
