they don't save "classics"?  that's kinda dumb from a programming standpoint -- audiences expect consistency.

I tuned in in the middle of "5:15" by the Who and got all excited.

One advantage of a business trip to Denver is being an hour earlier & able to listen to the Peak.

Of course if all I get to hear is 'World class rock from then & now..' instead of 10@10, it kind of nullifies the feeling.

next song is Mellissa Etheridge covering Petty's "Refugee".

ah well.

be back at my desk tomorrow.

Rob's back and so is 10@10 -- Bruce's "Glory Days" followed by Oingo Boingo, "Stay".  1985, sez Rob.

I always mondegreened the Oingo Boing lyric, "if we get through one more night..." as "if we get the room..."

OMG! The Peak does 1971. Tuned in in the middle of "Mercy Mercy Me", followed by McGuinness Flint "When I'm Dead & Gone" -- now there's a nugget I can't remember Dave playing.

OMGWTF! Dylan, "Watching the River Flow"! One of his best singles, how did this manage to not be a hit?

Rob pulling out ALL the stops today: Zep, "Goin to Calif" followed by Freda Payne "Bring the Boys Home", or as Robert Christgau once called it, "Vietnam with Violins". LOL!

Cease all fire (tell 'em 'bout it)!

per the backannounce, he also played "Starship Trooper", and Ms King's "Where You Lead".

All that was missing was "Stoney End"  ... best '71 set from any source in a long time. Gaz -- you need to catch the replay on this one!

Thanks for the lead, I should be able to.  Been busy this week filling in as a fact-checker for the Voice's upcoming Best Of New York issue.  Not enjoying this work, but it's employment and it's expanding my skill-set and my reputation as a go-to guy around here (which may not be entirely a good thing -- I'll explain some other time).

Today's Peak set was 10 by Mr Costello in honor of his 50th B-Day.

Jeez, if I put out a record, and it hit #41, I'd put something like "he had a hit record!" on my tombstone!

Someday I'll write a book on near-misses.  I'll call it "The #11s and the #41s: Faraway, So Close," or something like that.  (There's already a book out about the #2 hits.)

Meantime, I gotta say, I'm really enjoying this all-Elvis set, even more than I would have expected.  The alternate take on "Everyday I Write the Book" is far superior to the released version; was that recorded around the same time and rejected, or is that a recent revisiting?
