1984 BOS to Broooce, "Cover Me" -- always a favorite of mine.  I like Bruce best when he's vulnerable.

P.S.  I decided not to submit an abstract for that Bruce conference this fall at Monmouth -- the small print indicated that conference presenters would be expected to pay the regular attendee fee of $199, which strikes me as either absurd, naive, or fraudulently gouging (I'll take Door #3).

BOS2 to Lindsay Buckingham's "Go Insane."  There Are No Coincidences: I played the live version of this song at a jukebox Thursday night after not hearing it for several years.

And a VHM to INXS, "Original Sin," which (surprise!) couldn't get on the air in Pittsburgh.

just arrived during INXS.  VHM to Once Upon a Time in America --wow, was that really 1984? I remember seeing it (the butchered studio version) that summer, and then seeing the uncut 4-hour version the following January at the long-gone 8th Street Playhouse and being blown away by it.  Sorry I missed "Go Insane".

VHM2 "Who's That Girl", Annie & Dave could do no wrong in this period.

Are you implying censorship or just unadventurous programming?

Moreso the former: Pittsburgh wasn't about to celebrate mixed-race relationships in 1984.  Only slightly better in 2004.

So they didn't play "Brother Louie" there?  The INXS songs strikes me as far less explicit in comparison.

Well, it's hard for me to speak to that since I wasn't aware of radio in 1973 -- my never having heard "Brother Louie" in da 'Burgh could be as much due to lack of a '70s pop oldies format on local radio as to segregationism.  (Growing up, Pittsburgh had an oldies station that capped things at 1970, and a '70s hard-rock station, but "Louie" didn't fit into either.)

So, when Rob's on vacay there's no 10@10?  They don't save "classics" for such occasions? WTF?

I missed the year today, but we've kicked off with INXS's "Mystify," more proof of their underrated status among rock acts of the past 25 years.  I'd consider them for the R&R HOF.

By now you've figured out there's no 10@10 when Mr Arrow's away.

the Peak's 10@10 is back -- OMG, got here in time for Patti Smith, "Gloria"!

'75 is the oldest Peak set I've heard yet. Right on!  uh-oh, here's "Low Rider" for the second time today.

the Who re-doing "I'm Free" in 1975? Oh, the Tommy sndtk, I guess.  I don't think I've ever heard this on the radio.

OMG, FMac, "Blue Letter", the track you never hear from that album, and  a personal fave -- Linda Ronstadt shoulda covered this.
