Tues 5/3: logging on in time for "Running Up That Hill", so it must be 1985.

Sounds like 1980: Broooce, "Sherry Darling" maybe in my all-time Top 5 Boss tunes. Before it, caught the tail end of a song that sounded familiar but that I couldn't quite nail -- sorta new-wavish. We'll see.

OMG! Elvis C, "I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down", from Get Happy, the Costello LP that Dave never plays.  Fab.

Ah, it was "So Long" by Fischer Z. A long-lost nugget that got NYC airplay. The Peak definitely knows its core audience -- NY'ers who were in HS or College in the '80s (now living in the 'burbs) and who were listening to WNEW-FM and WLIR back then.

Thurs 5/5/05:

Tuned in in time for JCM's "Paper in Fire" which means 1987 -- an interesting contrast to Dave's set on Monday, I'm sure.

Here's the Cure, "Why Can't I Be You?"

U2 "With or Without You", followed by Sinead, "Mandinka". It's Cinco de Mayo in Ireland!

compare, contrast, discuss...

Dave's 1987 set:

Georgia Satellites - Battleship Chains
Wang Chung - Everybody Have Fun Tonight (vinyl!)
John Hiatt - Thank You, Girl
Stabilizers - One Simple Thing (B-O-S!!)
Crowded House - World Where You Live
Squeeze - Hourglass
Chris Isaak - Fade Away
Bourgeois Tagg - I Don't Mind At All (vinyl!)
U2 - Bullet the Blue Sky
REM - Finest Work Song

Rob's 1987 set:

John Hiatt - Thing called Love
Greg Allman - I'm No Angel
F. Mac - Little Lies
Smiths - Shoplifters of the World
G Dead - Hell in a Bucket
Los Lobos - La Bamba
JCM  - Paper in Fire
Cure - Why Can't I Be You?
U2 - With or Without You
Sinead - Mandinka

Actually, except for the Smiths tune, the Peak's set was rather Dave-like.

Friday 5/6:

B-52s, 52 Girls, which makes it '79.

Followed by Bowie "Look Back in Anger" (?) from Lodger I think.

Mr Curry does the Rock one more once. Always a treat, even for the second time in 2 weeks.  Raising protein quota!

Correctimundo.  I bought Lodger for "Boys Keep Swinging," and LBIA was the only other song I ended up liking on it.

Do you feel the Peak is worthy of it's own category?

I think the time zone makes it less accessible for us left coasters, but you guys do seem to tune in.

Friday is my early day; the rest of the week I catch the last 10-15 mins. But as an ex-NY'er I find they come up with nuggets that only NY'ers would remember, especially in the late-'70s/early '80s sets -- that was when the punk/new wave thing was influencing AOR airplay back East.

Monday 5/9:

Elton, "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word", which means either '76 or '77, as Blue Moves was on the cusp.
