Frankie Valli & Four Seasons' "Beggin'" has been remixed and is charting in the U.K., where they're just now getting a taste for "Jersey Boys."  The remix is tambouriffic and thankfully doesn't go the cheezy "Little Less Talk" route.

I'll e-mail an MP3 to anyone who wants one.

is there a link to it anywhere (I'd LURVE to hear it, but we know my issues with downloading large files with dial-up)?

I don't know of any public links, unfortunately, or if the track's getting a U.S. release, but maybe someone can help me upload to the S*cr*t St*sh library?  (Perhaps someday I'll shell out for the webspace to do an MP3 blog.  But now is not the time.)

if you email me the tune, i'll post it.

KPIG just played Joan Osborne's new cover of "Midnight Train to Georgia" -- the album is called Breakfast in Bed, which makes me wonder if it's all covers.  Perfectly nice, if unnecessary, version.

I have to say I have heard them play it too, and I really dug it.  Joan has some sort of relaxed sensuality that really comes across.  Nothing could replace Gladys Knight, but this was good.  They've also been playing her version of Breakfast in Bed too.  I wish I could've seen her show at Slim's on Thursday night.

This morning on KPIG: I woke up to Jim Pepper's "Witchi Ti To". And also heard a wonderful song by Larry Hosford  (?) called "Home Run Willie", about Willie Mays hitting a Home Run at Candlestick as a visiting NY Met.  Really nice and new to me.

Little Steven's "Coolest Song in the World" pick hit this week is a fab Beatlesque tune called "Cruel Girl" by a band from LA called The Red Button.  Just wonderful, and if KFOG doesn't jump on this one they are insane.

The more I hear of Feist, the less I need to hear.

I'm kinda starting to agree with this.

Prior to this song there was a promo for KFOG's "then and now" sets--and I was thinking, "Great, they're going to play this current song, and then they;re going to play Mushaboom, which is like two years old."

Glad I was wrong.
Let's get right to it.

Indeed, and the vocal similarity with Corrinne Bailey Rae and at least one other "current" woman artist whose name escapes me is depressing.

The new Matchbox Twenty CD is called "Exile in Mainstream" -- Worst "Cutesy/Clever" title ever?

It's so meta it hurts.

The lead single ain't half bad, though.  How many songs can you like by a band without having to admit to liking the band?

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.  The answer is blowing in the wind.

Just learned about Paste magazine's podcast:

http://www.pastecultureclub.com/

I like what I hear from the new Josh Ritter, but is the whole cast restricted to 30-sec. samples, I wonder?  Argh for DMCA regulations.

for you jellyfish fans, my version of "long time go" has just been posted on the jellyfish tribute site:

http://www.myspace.com/jellyfishtributealbum

they're taking submissions to be included with the 2-disc tribute album in september. i recorded it on garageband. i'm learning a bit more about the program. so the only real instruments are the guitars (acoustic plugged into my laptop, then effects added in garageband) and vocals. i recorded my dad talking trash on skype.

sometimes technology is so cool.

I'd like to use it more also.  I just got an Alesis mixer which comes with Cubase, but haven't even opened it up yet.  How many tracks were you able to lay down, and how much horsepower does your Mac have?
