The A's are doing an " '80s Night" this month and are giving away an MC Hammer bobblehead.

But Hammer had all his hits in the '90s. WTF?

And the bobbler isn't wearing Hammer's signature parachute pants.

Yeah, it looks more like he's wearing a Talbots pantsuit.
Haha...Actually, he looks like Keith Sweat wearing a Talbots pantsuit.  Make it last forevah!

Giants @ Tigers, 4:45pm. Kuip says "those skies are looking a little dark". Kruk says "there are showers in the area but nothing that could threaten this game"

5:05pm: Monsoon. Rain Delay.  (G-men are winning 6-0 in the 3rd, BTW).

ETA: game finally resumes 2-1/2 hours later; it's now 10-0 Giants and it's STILL the 3rd inning!

Fifteen-zip in the 7th, last I looked. No save opportunity for Wilson tonight!

ETA: Make that 15-2, top of the 8th. The Tigers come roaring back!

Can someone explain why Mota got a save?  15 run lead?

Maybe because the potential tying run was sitting in the dugout chewing tobacco? I dunno, doesn't make sense to me.

The article in the Chron implies it was because he pitched 3 innings (as opposed, I guess, to the 1 that closers normally pitch?).  That's a new one on me.

Indeed, pitching 3 innings to close a game qualifies one for a save, regardless of score.

Bob Costas sat in with Dave Fleming for a half-inning tonight on KNBR, and apparently Al Michaels did the same w the TV side. They're in town b/c they'll be doing tomorrow's game together for MLB network.

At some point tomorrow they will move over to do the Comcast broadcast for a couple innings while Kruk and Kuip move over to do MLB.   I didn't know this, but Al Michaels used to do Giants games back in the 70s with Lon Simmons.

last night, Buster Posey sat in for an inning w the KNBR crew.  He's pretty natural, very smart,  and would make a good broadcaster/color guy if he learns to modulate his voice, etc, etc.

Beat me to it... I was listening in the car when Costas dropped in.  A TV guy who loves radio, bless his heart.

But hey -- how 'bout that Barry Zito?

Al Michaels & Bob Costas now doing their fill-in for Kruk'n'Kuip on Comcast for innings 6 & 7 (K'n'K are on MLB Network for those innings, but you can't see that in SF).
