Aubrey Huff

I don't know how easily it is for hitters to choose what field to hit to, and I have a lot of respect for Huff, but it's kind of starting to look like a quarterback picking on a new defensive back.  Defense seems to be the key in the losses so far, not Barry Zito.

"I've been dreaming of this my entire life. It's come true now," said Belt, who cried when hearing the good news from manager Bruce Bochy and remained teary-eyed long afterward.

...

With a crowd at Belt's locker, a voice was heard from across the clubhouse:

"Hey, Belt, you crying?"

It was Aubrey Huff.

Belt: "A little bit."

Huff: "Why you crying? I'm the one who's gotta play right field every day."

(that is, until Cody Ross comes off the DL.)

Had to mention the Manny Ramirez story -- WHAT a fucking douchebag.

And in other news, the Chron reported on a SF Giants fan hangout in NYC's East Village: Finnerty’s.

my daughter who moved to Brooklyn spent a lot of time there last postseason.  My son went out to visit then coincidentally.  They were so mobbed on the last game, that the crowd spilled over, and filled the neighboring bar, which also became a Giants bar that night!

Off to the airport, so that S. & I might attend tonight's Giants-Dodgers game. Hoping this isn't my only Giants game of the year, but it could be. If any of y'all will be there, message me thru the board. Go Giants!

(Nice finish last night, btw. Wilson seemed more his old self. Whew.)
Let's get right to it.

Right there with ya. Got the fleece, the sleeves, the long underwear, gloves, etc. At least the rain passed this am--I was thinking I might be flying 600 mi. for a rainout. Not like.

AMAZING hockey game; Sharks were down 4-0 after the first period, they scored 5 goals in the second. It's now tied 5-5.

And the Giants won and the A's are beating the Sawx. (sorry, Annalisa)

After the first week of the season, the Giants have been on a bit of a tear, only losing one of the last 7 games I think.

Meanwhile the Sox have been doing the opposite. Last I looked, they were in the cellar in the AL East.

Looks like Frank McCourt is about to be shown the door as owner of the Dodgers. Which will be good for them, and potentially bad for the Giants. Apparently he needed to get a loan from FOX in order to meet the club's payroll last week. Still, that clown is not good for baseball as a whole, so good riddance.

We were watching the game, my kids were here, and someone said Brian Wilson would shave his beard when he lost a game.  Is that true?

Crazy people at KFOX were very kind to give me tickets to Friday's round 2 game 1 SHARKS game. So excited and feeling lucky. ;D

Giants tix for '11 season
« Reply #1754 on: May 08, 2011, 08:44:18 PM »
Hey all--
I've already e-mailed this to a few of you that I thought might be interested, but if any of you might be interested in a pair of tickets to a few Giants games this season, let me know and I'll send you the info off-list. Selling at face value just to cover my costs so I can justify keeping the seats. The seats are in View Box 312 Row A (that's the front row of the upper deck). Right now I'm offering games vs. the Rockies, Reds, D'backs and Astros, might have a few more as the season progresses.
Message me offlist at urthwerm (at) yahoo-daht-cahm if you're interested.
Go Giants!
