Ben Fong-Torres writes in his radio column today:

"Tired of all the Summer of Love nostalgia? Celebrate the summer of '07 with Summerthing, the free KLLC (Alice@97.3) concert today at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Smash Mouth, Everclear and Mat Kearney will play from noon to 4 p.m. Gates open at 11, there's a free bicycle valet service and there will be vendors offering food, arts and crafts, activities and all-around good vibes."

Actually... SmashMouth and Everclear? that's more like the Summer of '97, no?

Exactly!  Trading one nostalgium for another.

Poor Sly. But at least he showed up ... sorta.

Had Selvin not gleaned from Sly's Grammy appearance that he's hunchbacked now?

PS: I read the VF piece; was glad it exists but found it unsatisfying.

I heard Stevie Wonder tix go on sale manana. I figured I'd go to the Mtn. Winery and check him out. Just saw prices and probably won't go. Lowest price $99 and up to 250. Dang. Bob said no way.

I suspected Stevie was going to be a big-money show. The Concord gig will probably be less, but it's also about 10 times as big as Mountain Winery. And I have to wonder about the condition of Stevie's voice these days. Call me cynical (you'd be right), but he doesn't look like he's in the best shape.
Let's get right to it.

I saw the ad for the Stevie show, and thought, now there's a show I should be going to.  Not going to, but I should.

I am going to a plethora of shows in September, though.  Not things I would have chosen on my own, but some buddies were throwing out stuff:

Los Lonely Boys at the filmore, sept 11.

Velvet Revolver, Alice in Chains, at the Sleepy train, Sept 14.

Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, at the Sleepy Train, Sept 30th (with some fungus amoung us, if you know what I mean  )

Really, would rather see Stevie in a heartbeat.  But I'll see anyone, for the most part, if the price aint too steep.  Mostly looking forward to Alice, though.

Rock on.

A someday reality show: Rock Midget Wrestling, with RJ Dio taking on Udo Dirkschneider of Accept.

My question is who is fronting Alice?  Is Jerry Cantrell doing it himself now?

Um, to clarify, I'm mostly looking forward to Alice Cooper, who still fronts his own show.  Would be interesting if he fronted Alice in Chains, as well.

Welcome to my nightmare.
