Image of Golf Digest Tiger/Obama cover

Ooops.  Faux News will dine on that for days.

Yesterday I posted on FB that all these ex-"girlfriends" of Tiger's spilling the beans has given new meaning to the phrase "waking up with wood" -- and I got more comments than I've gotten on anything else I've posted there in the last 8 months.

Tiger update: he's reportedly at a posh rehab clinic in Hattiesburg, MS (first time "Posh" and "Hattiesburg" have been used in the same sentence) for "sex addiction".

and the guy who broke the story is Benoit Denizet-Lewis -- I actually *know* him! He wrote about Regular Guys for the SF Weekly.

Hey Giants fans, check this out:  The first authorized biography of Willie Mays is coming out in 3 weeks, and it was written by one of my better friends from High School.

see more here: http://butterflypublisher.com/b/page.php?u=jimhirsch@rcn.com

Looks like he'll be in town end of April for a booksigning & a lecture.

For the first time in living memory, the Super Bowl matchup is 2 teams I actually like and have rooted for during the season.  I'm going to enjoy the game. All this and the 'oo, too.

BTW, did the KFOG Football Pool page continue to work thru the playoffs, as it used to withn the old system? Just curious.

ditto.  furthermore, I can't recall when the last time that the Super Bowl featured the top team in each conference.  Not in the last decade I don't think.

ETA: it was the '93-'94 season when the Cowboys beat the Bills in a rematch of the previous year's game.

Kurt Warner hangs 'em up:

Let's see if he's any better about sticking to his retirement than Favre was.
Let's get right to it.

I think he will be; he's got all sorts of charitable/church stuff he's involved with (tho' a run for Congress wouldn't surprise me). And I've gotta say that as much as I disliked him when he was at his proselytizing peak, I think he learned in recent years that doing good works in private will get you more respect and admiration than running off at the mouth.  A lesson Tim Tebow would do well to pick up on.

Jon Miller's going to the Hall of Fame. Just announced today that he will be this year's recipient of the Ford C. Frick award for Broadcasters.

Second Giants announcer to win this award in the last 3 or 4 years--Lon Simmons got it in, what, 2007 or '08?

ETA: My how time do fly! Lon Simmons won the award in 2004--six years ago.

The son of Toronto Maple Leaf's GM Brian Burke, Brendan, and an 18 year old passanger, was killed in an auto accident.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4891883

There was a story late last year on Brendan where he struggled with his sexuality. Both his parents had accepted that he was gay. He was only 21.

Original story here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?columnist=buccigross_john&id=4685761

That is awful.  I remember reading Brendan's coming-out story when it first posted.  I am choking up.  RIP.

Jeezus.  The family's support of him was a big story on Outsports last year  -- in fact the coverage it got led to those Fred Phelps sickos picketing NHL games ("NHL loves Fags" etc).  Very very sad.
