"Rocket Man" is selling Volkswagen Passats in an amusing mondegreen-related ad.

"Ah got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one"

In a weird TANC, I posted the above Jay-Z lyric as my FB status after seeing someone wearing it on a T-shirt yesterday; then last nite I discovered the song is being used in commercials for the "Battlefield 3" video game. Only, of course, the word "bitch" is bleeped -- why would you spend money to license a song that you have to censor?

because everyone thinks, 'oh cool, they're using that bad-ass Jay-Z song but The Man is making them censor it!  Bastards!'

I didn't know that was Jay-Z lyric until I just read this post, but I saw a variation of it on a t-shirt at Upper Playground:

"99 Problems, But a Pitch Ain't One."

because everyone thinks, 'oh cool, they're using that bas-ass Jay-Z song but The Man is making them censor it!  Bastards!'

I didn't know that was Jay-Z lyric until I just read this post, but I saw a variation of it on a t-shirt at Upper Playground:

there's also a ghetto variation, "99 problems but a SNITCH ain't one"

A straight friend suggested to me that the "bitch" version really should be a homo anthem, since gay guys never have woman problems. Which is especially funny if you know that Jay-Z is oft-rumored to be on the down-low.

Sam Worthington and the newly-slimmed-down Jonah Hill in a wildly overproduced TV ad for the "Call of Duty" video game. WTFF?

The Creation song, "Making Time," that was in Rushmore is now being used to sell Miller Lite.

This Travelers Insurance spot is the umpteenth commercial to use "Happy Together" -- but check out the theater marquee at apx :14 secs in... is that not SF's own Balboa Theater?

I'd seen this, but didn't notice the theater.  I did notice Spreckels Lake and the Conservatory of Flowers, and wondered where some of the other scenes were shot.

Thanks. it's very weird and I'm still trying to figure out what in my post triggered the "Forbidden" thingy.

no, but again, it was only that one thread and only because i typed a brand name (I think). But meanwhile, getting the "new" marker to disappear has become a chore (it doesn't just go away after you've read a post, you have to hit refresh multiple times.

I'm experiencing that, as well.
