The Hyundai ad featuring a wannabe white rap group has killed my interest for their product.

"Ah got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one"

In a weird TANC, I posted the above Jay-Z lyric as my FB status after seeing someone wearing it on a T-shirt yesterday; then last nite I discovered the song is being used in commercials for the "Battlefield 3" video game. Only, of course, the word "bitch" is bleeped -- why would you spend money to license a song that you have to censor?

because everyone thinks, 'oh cool, they're using that bad-ass Jay-Z song but The Man is making them censor it!  Bastards!'

I didn't know that was Jay-Z lyric until I just read this post, but I saw a variation of it on a t-shirt at Upper Playground:

"99 Problems, But a Pitch Ain't One."

Another TANC:  A speculative list of Jay-Z's 99 problems......

Not strictly a music comment, but the Jack In The Box "Jumbaco" ad makes me want to break things.

Ted Nugent's Strangelhold appears in a current Volkswagen ad, where a montage shows a character at progressing ages buying first a 10 speed bike (pre-teen), then a moped (teenager), then a Camaro (young man).  Each time he asks the seller "Is it fast?"

now he's a little older and he's checking out a VW and asks "Is it safe" and we see he now has a kid strapped to his chest in one of those baby-backpacks-in-front.  He's a baby-daddy!   awwww!

cue the Nooge.

just saw a McDonald's spot for their "Chicken McBites" (their version of popcorn chicken, apparently) and everyone in the commercial was Asian. Never saw anything that ethnno-specific before.  This was during 30 Rock on WGN.

I stated yesterday that I wouldn't care for the term "egg mcmuffin".

I don't believe I'd react any better to "Chicken McBite".

Obviously their branding department is running out of inspiration when it comes to innovative ways to incorporate "Mc" with various new menu items. Although I would love to see an ad campaign with the tag line "McBite me!"
Let's get right to it.

And so, "The Lorax", Dr Seuss' magical fable about saving the environment, is being used to sell... cars. Surely the man is turning over in his grave.
