Getting a photo would be key for  a blog post.  Although I typically blog in our bike blog, I could even mention it in one of the other newsy blogs here -- we have an general SFGate news tips & items blog that would work, and we would be wise to advertise this blog better and the entire idea that we're open to user-submissions.

My question is: how many other cities is this ad campaign running in? And how many approved (or rejected as offensive) that particular line? Are they on the NYC subway, for example?  They're a national website, apparently.

I haven't seen it in NYC and had never heard of it until now.

Follow-up on the taxbrain.com "IRS Making You Want To Join the NRA?" campaign.  I emailed BART the other day to complain and got this reply:

Quote
Ads are reviewed by the contracted ad agency that handles advertising in the bay area in both the public transit industry and out in general.  They comply with standards that have been established for public transit advertising, and in BART we also exclude any ads that advocate alcohol and pornography.

This ad seemed to have applied a tongue-in-cheek humor as many individuals may apply in any variety of situations.  However, given the coincidental timing of its display and the eventual incident of a couple weeks back, the client's catch line suddenly reflected in a different light.  Please note that right after that, BART requested the ad agency to remove all copy of that ad.

Corporate doublespeak, but hey, they're (supposedly) removing those ads.  In the time since I first posted, I've googled the phrase and found that several people have Tweeted about it, but nothing approaching a major mention in the press. SFist apparently ignored the tip I sent them about it.

Hey Mike, I'm sorry I never got around to sending this to a columnist here.  Not that it would have guaranteed an appearance in the paper, but maybe a blog.  I haven't seen any photos of it via google search, but just tweets here and there.  You didn't happen to snap a photo, did you?

No, sadly, I didn't. But no worries, it's (presumably) a dead issue now.

But I have another question: they seem to have disabled the 'comments' feature on Zennie 62's CityBrights blog -- but they haven't done it to any of the other CityBrights bloggers. Did he get tired of people calling him an idiot?

don't know specifics on Zennie, but CB bloggers can control whether comments appear on any of their posts.  it's their call.

well then he must've decided he was tired of criticism. Because (a) he really is a moron, and (b) readers have been merciless in telling him so.

sounds about right.

btw, I can't see your icon on the board.  I can right-click and open up in a different tab, and then I see it's an animated gif of a Homer Simpson clock, but it's not rendering on the main screen here.

seems to depend on your computer -- had that problem at home last nite and then I clicked on "Profile" and refreshed it and it came back. I'll probably change to something else later today.

ok, can't wait for your next change of outfits!

btw, that Homer "Beer O'Clock" is completely wrong. I've been watching it now for about 45 minutes and it still says 2:27.  I'll give it another hour just to make sure.  :)

All these people upset about the Groupon ads and the "Test Baby" spot... have they seen the Luvs diaper commercial with animated babies dropping big loads in their pants? All to the tune of "Whoops! There it Is"? ... er, EWWW!

My favorite spot currently airing is a Valentine's PSA that encourages men to check themselves for testicular cancer as a gift to their significant others.  Seriously.  And the tag line:  "Why give diamonds when you can give the family jewels."  I am not making this up.

Thanks for posting this. I don't know if I'll be able to view the advertisement from here, but I'll give it a try. Sounds hilarious.
