yes, in the middle of Hurricane Irene, an op-ed piece on FoxNews.com advocated the abolishing of the National Weather Service.

A FB friend posted a link to this article about NY Archbishop Dolan...

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504803_162-20044758-10391709.html

and since Gaz is "off-line" this week, I felt compelled to re-post with a comment I know he'd appreciate
and could probably have written himself:

Quote
Sorry, Dolan: the celibate, unmarried spokesman for an outfit that has spent decades covering up child abuse and telling poverty-stricken Africans not to use condoms is NOT fit to pontificate (ha ha) on whether I "have what it takes" to be married. So screw you.  And as for your bizarre baseball analogy... does falling in love require athletic skill? or do you just, um, enjoy thinking about Derek Jeter?

Jon Carroll does it again:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/09/09/DD121L1BVM.DTL

I figured someone would have posted this already.  This is right in line with some of Geoff's blogs.  Treason, or carefullly planned political strategy.  Ta-mate-oh, Tah-mah-toh.

ETA:  I also like the phrase "low-information voters".

I do too... in fact that is going to be what I use instead of "moron" for awhile.

Carroll closes very strong:
Quote
So it's on us. If we turn away in horror, then our tax money will go to solidify a dual theocracy/kleptocracy such as the world has never seen before. If we pay attention and fight, with information and action, then at least there's a chance.

Anyone catch the Republican debate audience booing a soldier upon his statement of being gay?  Classless fuckwits.

Well said.  And my Catholic friends wonder why I have such disdain for the organization behind the religion.
