Neil Young's coming out with an anti-Bush CD called Living With War, says this site, Editor & Publisher.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Play all the songs, but especially "Crazy."  You won't believe that "Gone Daddy Gone" is what you're thinking it can't be.

Live 105 played "Crazy" Sunday, whilst I was driving around Alameda.  Amazing that I recognized it right away, after having only heard it the one time from your link.

I was driving to work this morning, and listening to KPIG (which has become my regular morning escape) and I hear this song that sounds like Richard Thompson singing with Mark Knopfler playing guitar.  The guitar sounded so Knopfler, I was confused.  Why would Richard Thompson, himself an ascended guitar master, need another master like Knopfler?  The guitar was some of the best licks MK has had since his solo on "Brothers in Arms."

Later in the afternoon, I still remembered liking it, but forgot the guys' name, and thanks to KPIG's extremely long logs, I found out it was William Topley, and not Richard Thompson.  The song is called "Sea Breeze" and so I shelled out my $0.99, and now I have that killer guitar to listen to whenever I want!  The song is pretty good too.  Has anyone heard of this guy?

Yep, they've been around for awhile. They've had a live NRBQ ca. 1970 set in the works for about 3-4 years, but somehow just can't quite get it to market.
Let's get right to it.

Atlantic Unearths Unheard 'Soul'

Wilson Pickett

April 25, 2006, 3:45 PM ET

Katie Hasty, N.Y.
Atlantic Records' soul pioneers of the 1960s and 1970s will be in the spotlight on two single-disc compilations due June 6 from Rhino. "Atlantic Unearthed: Soul Sisters" and "Atlantic Unearthed: Soul Brothers" feature remastered and previously unreleased singles from label titans like Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding. The sets also uncover rare tracks from lesser-known artists like Judy Clay and Arthur Conley.

Franklin's take on "My Way," originally recorded in 1970 for an Italian compilation, makes its U.S. debut on the "Soul Sisters" disc. Margie Joseph's cover of the Temptations' "It's Growing" and a cover of Fontella Bass' "Rescue Me" by Dee Dee Warwick (Dionne Warwick's sister) are both previously unreleased.

The late Wilson Pickett's "Can't Stop a Man in Love," said to be one of his few remaining never-before-released studio cuts, opens the "Soul Brothers" set. Percy Sledge's cover of Aretha Franklin's hit "Baby, Baby, Baby," Arthur Conley's "Rome (Wasn't Built in a Day)" and Donny Hathaway's "What a Woman Really Means" round out the album's unreleased gems.

Here is the track list for "Atlantic Unearthed: Soul Sisters":

"My Way," Aretha Franklin (previously unreleased in the U.S.)
"It's Growing," Margie Joseph (previously unreleased)
"(1-2-3-4-5-6-7) Count the Days," Patti LaBelle & the Blue Belles (previously unreleased)
"Please Little Angel," Doris Troy
"Hands Off My Baby," Mary Wells
"My Best Friend's Man," Dee Dee Sharp
"Rescue Me," Dee Dee Warwick (previously unreleased)
"What Becomes of the Brokenhearted," Baby Washington
"Full Time Woman," Irma Thomas
"I Got To Love Somebody's Baby," Judy Clay
"Cheater Man," Esther Phillips
"What a Man," Laura Lee
"Ain't Nothing Gonna Change Me," the Sweet Inspirations (previously unreleased)
"It Ain't Who You Know," Jackie Moore
"I Ain't That Easy To Lose," Bettye Swann (previously unreleased)
"Thankful for What I Got," Barbara Lewis

Here is the track list for "Atlantic Unearthed: Soul Brothers":

"Can't Stop a Man in Love," Wilson Pickett (previously unreleased)
"How Does It Feel," Bobby Womack
"You Left the Water Running," Sam & Dave
"Rome (Wasn't Built in a Day)," Arthur Conley (previously unreleased)
"Book Of Memories," Percy Wiggins
"That's How It Feels," The Soul Clan
"I Love You More Than Words Can Say," Otis Redding
"Baby, Baby, Baby," Percy Sledge (previously unreleased)
"Hold On," James Carr
"Pouring Water on a Drowning Man," Otis Clay
"Lovebones," Mighty Sam
"The Love of My Woman," Darrell Banks
"Coldest Days of My Life," Walter Jackson
"Whiter Shade of Pale," R.B. Greaves
"Change With the Seasons," Carl Hall

"Whiter Shade of Pale," R.B. Greaves

Sounds FAB -- and speaking of RG Greaves -- his take on "Whiter Shade..." ?!? Gotta hear that.

If R.B. Greaves, is Alonzo Mourning?

Gaz's post above reminded me--I read a short piece on this in yesterday's Chron. But of course, they didn't post it on their site, so here's the Philly Inquirer's take on it. Could be cool, could be cheesy. Hoping the former.

Oh, wow.  "Could be cool, could be cheesy" is spot on -- it all depends on who's producing.  Sounds like this will have some production sensitivity and sensibility to it -- unlike something like Will.I.Am's shitting all over the Sergio Mendes would-be-comeback album from a few months ago.  Thanks for putting this on my radar!

Which I ended up hearing not a single damn note of.  Funny how as soon as Sly fucked up his Grammy appearance, all promotion of the tribute CD ended unceremoniously.  I'm not sure the album even charted.

I didn't hear it, but per the KFOG website, they played "Crazy" this morning during Benson the PD's "New Releases" segment.

ETA: OK, I finally listened to "Crazy" and the other song ("Smiley Faces") -- both really good, tho' it's gonna be interesting to see the Foghead reaction. The songs don't seem to me like they will play well next to Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou.

I heard Crazy when Benson was on and he was so hyping it as THE song of summer. Not sure about that but I did like it. Day or so later, heard it on Live 105.

While on new music, the Red Hot Chili Peps have a song out that is very much like Tom Petty's Mary Jane's Last Dance. Not sure which song it is. Anyone hear it?

Annalisa was just saying how Dave will be back on the Morning Show tomorrow & she'll be back on Mid-Days, but first she wanted to preview New Releases Thursday, and the first song she mentioned was "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley.  Wonder what the Fogheads will think.
