OMG and wow -- This morning KFOG finally played James McMurtry's angry, powerful and completely wonderful "We Can't Make It Here Anymore". They referred to it as "new" but KPIG has been playing it since before Thanksgiving. Coulda knocked me over with a feather when I heard it today.

Yep--I heard it earlier this week too. Typical KFOG M.O.--trying to fob off something that's been out for 6 months as "new."

And to be fair, it's possible Rosalie has been playing it on Sundays, but I haven't heard "Acoustic Sunrise" since KPIG became available to me.

This morning, heard Knopfler and Emmy Lou (out on Apr 25). I love his distinctive guitar sound. Love EmmyLou too.

Another tune sounded like Red Hot Chili Peps but I didn't hear the announce. Good new stuff.

My Foghead email mentioned new RHCPs so I guess that was them.  I heard Knopfler/Emmylou on that Austin station and it sounded very nice. As usual, Foghead resistance to anything country will be a factor.

I have recently been transfixed, while listening to a song called "Angel of Lyon" on KPIG.  Very Johnny Cash sounding, with a killer guitar solo in the heroic vein.  I went to iTunes, and bought it, but it's the acoustic version (by Tom Russell).  It looks like the version I'm looking for is off a 1992 album called "Box of Visions."  I know this is a stretch, but has anyone heard this guy before?  There's a story on Wikipedia coincidentally on  how Tom and his guitarist met Robert Hunter in a cab in NYC, and Tom ended up opening for Hunter's gigs.  TANC.

Gnarls Barkley, a collaboration between singer-rapper Cee-Lo and remixer Danger Mouse, who have the current #1 in England with "Crazy":

Play all the songs, but especially "Crazy."  You won't believe that "Gone Daddy Gone" is what you're thinking it can't be.

POC: you still here? I met a man today and we got to talking a bit. He was really nice and had a great disposition. I liked him immediately. Must be the sunny day, making me chat with strangers. He was working at Walgreens and started talking about good weather and touring so we talked about music and he gave me his card...the rest can be seen on his website.

You should check him out for future collaboration maybe,

Hearing the New Cars song (But Not Tonight) for the first time. Gotta think Todd is not entirely serious about this.

"I could make some calls, move some things around, and cancel stuff..."

Now them's some inspired lyrics.

?!?!?!?
Let's get right to it.

Plugging this again because I'm just now paying attention to the lyrics.  Heavy stuff:

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions had an echo and so much space

And when you're out there without care
Yeah I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me Crazy
Does that make me Crazy
Does that make me Crazy
Possibly

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now
who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you
think you are, ha ha ha bless your soul
you really think you're in control

I think you're Crazy
I think you're Crazy
I think you're Crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on the limb
All I remember is thinking I want to be like them.
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little
It looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

But Maybe I'm Crazy
Maybe you're Crazy
Maybe we're Crazy
Probably

Maybe this is his idea of an Ocasek parody? It sure sounds that way vocally (to my ears, anyway).

I have a cousin who has been institionalized, at least 3 times, but who came to my dad's retirement party in Feb.  She said something that really made us all stop and think, which was

"People should really stop saying, 'He or she is suffering from mental illness', because it's not true.  We're not suffering."
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

I hope they call it "Sweet/Tits."
