Are the Mentos necessary?  Seems like if you shake up a 2l bottle of Coke (and why's it need to be diet?) and slam it, that's going to be the result any which way . . .

On the other hand, at least that's three less bottles of soda for hyperactive kids to guzzle down . . .

See some of the other clips.  If you drop a Mentos into an inert bottle of Diet Coke (cap off) within one second it will start shooting foam ten feet in the air.

I now want to incorporate this in my science classes!  I think the mentos are probably reacting with the diet coke, but I don't know the reaction.
