indeed, Wiki seems to indicate that the CCR is about the Moratorium Day march on DC in Nov of '69.  I don't remember it raining that day, but it's possible.

I was probably there, but don't recall either.  We lived in Falls Church VA then, and my folks took us to a number of those marches & gatherings on the Mall.

for me, the rain was always a poetic image; I never thought it was about water falling from the sky.

Question: will we get 10 perfs from the sndtk.... or will we get the trifecta of songs about Woodstock (Joni/CSNY, Melanie, CCR)?

Got that out of the way quick--it's the Joni version of Woodstock to lead the set.
Let's get right to it.

I've probably said this before, but another fave m'green involves "I dreamed I saw the bombers, riding shotgun in the sky" -- I heard "bombers" as "barbers", which made perfect sense to me, since barbers hated hippies.

and speaking of m'greens: Richie's got a telephone in his pajamas!

You mean that's *not* what he's singing? Sure sounds like it! :)

Interesting quote from Townshend, but why are we hearing the studio version of I'm Free?

Uh-oh. That has kind of an ominous ring to it, Mark.

AL's trying to mix it up, I guess, and as Rob played 10 live-at-W'stock cuts this morning, it's fine with me. The interviews are more interesting than hearing "Soul Sacrifice" for the billionth time.

BTW, amazingly the lyric is "telephone in my bosom", which Sistah Havens is pronouncing as "bah-SAHM" for some reason.

Too bad she didn't play the clip where Crosby (I think) says onstage, "This is our second gig ever, we're scared shitless, man!"

That line got the Woodstock album banned from my sixth-grade classroom. You should have seen the teacher's face when that was played.
