The Return of A to Z
« on: April 26, 2005, 08:27:50 PM »
Yes, per the KFOG email I got today, "A to Z" returns Thursday May 5th, which I assume means it's meant to be a 10 or 11 day affair.  (Hope it's not the springboard to a format change, as it was for the Bone!)

Thought I'd jump-start this thread, since A to Z starts today after 10@10. Guess that means the "bonus track" goes on hiatus for a week or so? Even I intend to forgo CG, for the rest of today at least.

LOL! Yeah, that was interesting (The Bone: You guys picked these... honest!).

I wonder how the new format change has affected Der Bone's ratings.

As for KFOG A-Z: I intend to only listen to the Ws to make sure they play "Wild Women of Wongo"...

And I was just thinking that today would be a good day to check out CG, being as it's their election day and all. See if they send Tony packing for his silly allegiance to GW.
Let's get right to it.

I forgot about that -- I'll check out the top-of-the-hour news for sure. Don't think they'll send Tony packing tho'... the Tories are in the odd position of trying to make Iraq an issue, even as they continue to be to the right of Blair on every other issue.

I imagine y'all heard that the British Consulate here in NYC was attacked with a pair of grenades this morning?  Ah, articulate political statements ...   :x

Didn't take long for the first alphabetical screw up.  2 songs in fact.

"A" followed by "A Change" & "A Life Of Illusion" instead of followed by "Abacab".

If this is really how they plan to do the list & not just a random mistake, it also means we won't be hearing several "A ..." songs from last year: "A Case Of You", "A Dream Away", "A Face In The Crowd" & "A Girl In Trouble"
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

'A' with a space after it comes before 'ab'. At least when a computer sorts it.

As a professional records keeper, I wouldn't start a list with songs that are like "A Day in" or "A Life of". Those would be "Day In the Life, A" and "Life of Illusion, A".

Exactly, and they didn't do it that way last year, "A Change" came in the C-H's.

This also begs the question if they intend to do all the "The ..." songs in the T-H's, which would be even more ridiculous.

Let's see if "Ain't Nothin' But A House Party" makes the cut, for Rod's sake.

Looks like a greatly truncated songlist so far.

"Airplane" by Widespread Panic is the 20th song so far by my count, and there have already been 9 songs from last year that didn't make the cut this year (and I'm allowing for their different filing system mentioned earlier).  Of those 20 only 2 are songs that didn't show up last year, "A Sort Of Homecoming" & "Ain't No Sunshine".

So plus 2, minus 9, net loss of 7.  If this trend continues 2005's A-Z will be about a third shorter than 2004's.
