PS: I've never heard the Shirelles' version of "Do Wah Diddy," and I don't want to; I just think it's dippy songwriting from people who knew better.

FTR, of course "fair" makes a lot more sense, but my ears very clearly hear Larry Graham say "pear" both times.

Hmm, I don't hear Allman Brothers at all in this.  Definitely a fair amount of Byrds (Eight Miles High) in the geetar solo, but that's going the wrong direction.
