'the stain on my notebook' (and this song generally after years of exposure) does nothing for me.

I remember being vaguely disappointed by this LP, after the 1-2 punch of Argybargy and East Side Story. And A&M really gave it a big push, but this song still wasn't the Top 40 hit they were expecting it to be.

I don't mind the song--I just think it could be about 2 minutes shorter. They milk every last drop out of the melody, then they play three more choruses.

I thought it was great once upon a time, but now to me it's kind of like Brown-Eyed Girl.
