I know Mike is gonna BOS Joni, but this is maybe a guilty displeasure for me.  Not a 'meh' just a 'not my style'.  Recognize the craftmanship but...it's just ok

I respect that -- it's not "accessable" Joni or even "poetic" Joni.  My BOS is more of a BOSFRA.

Well I know we'll both BOS JJ "Stepping Out".  What a flashback/sledgehammer!

anything other than "Steppin' Out" woulda got a BOS from me; I'll be slightly cranky and hold this to a VHM.

so...I guessed wrong.

Maybe you're getting old before your time?

actually, Ginger, we CAN name a solo Nick Hayward song (and so can Dave!)

But we get HC100, "Favourite Shirt/Boy Meets Girl", which I always thought sounds a lot like T.Heads' "I Zimbra". BOS1

I concur on the "I Zimbra" (which has lately been in my top 2 or 3 TH songs) but hadn't thought about it until your post.

I remember being in a record store on Bleecker St (Bleecker Bob's probably) and arguing about that with the guy behind the counter who said I was crazy -- "it doesn't sound ANYTHING like 'I Zimbra'!!"

WAIT JUST A COTTON-PICKIN' MINUTE!!!!

ABC's "Look Of Love" in most definitely *NOT* cheese, especially when preceeded by "I've Never Been To Me".

Well, I certainly agree about ABC, but Ginger's cheeze medleys often include songs Dave (or Rob) wouldn't think twice about.

I think the near misses are rarer than the actuall jinxes.

BOS Ultravox.  Sure wish someone would dig up Midge Ure's minor solo hit "Dear God" from circa 1989 (and no, it's nothing like the XTC song)

ETA: confirming my vague memory, Dave played this once, back in Oct 2002.

I'm quite partial to his "If I Was", a bee-yoo-tee-ful ballad from '85 or so that should've been a big hit but died over here despite being a UK #1.

BOS x+1 Broooce.

'the stain on my notebook' (and this song generally after years of exposure) does nothing for me.
