Well, it's nice to know not EVERYBODY is doing all-Xmas.  I look forward to hearing this via Idaho Sunday morning (I'll be at the Sharks game tonite).

As to "GYBR", it's clearly about a "rent boy" (who came to the big city straight from the farm) being kept by a rich old queen. Whether the boy is gay or just "gay for pay" is open to interpretation.

And I agree about "Ruby Red Dress" -- either she had an abortion or was forced to give the child up. And wouldn't Diana Ross' "Last Time I Saw Him" have made the ideal follow-up to "Ruby" for Ms. Reddy?

Glad you finally got to hear "All I Know", which I adore, and glad you, er, liked it (?). The whole LP is worth a listen. Instant BOS to Marvin's sublime "Come Get to This". He wanted "to do somethin' freaky to you" years before Leon Haywood did.

BTW this 11/17/73 show is a rerun (yes, I know, they'll all technically reruns, but we heard it during the KFRC "marathon" last month). And your sig quote reminds me of another childhood joke: "What's brown and lays in the street?" Gomer's Pyle.

It's worth noting that this is something of a sledgehammer for me; it was released in late August and instantly got lots of NYC radio play. And I was saying goodbye then to high school friends who were going off to college for the first time, so the above lyric had serious impact.

Chart Oddity of the Week (and TANC, since he figured into the Kristofferson story): at #77 is a version of the Thom Bell/Linda Creed comp "I'm Comin' Home" by... Johnny Mathis! -- a year before the Spinners took it to the Top 40!

I heard half of this set on that Philly station, which condenses the countdown to 2:30 instead of a full 3:00.  But Chico is playing the '73 set again!   >:(
