From AT40 Fun and Games site. Next weekend:

Casey 70's - September 25 1971

http://www.oldradioshows.com/at40/092571.html

much cool stuff, but be advised: according to the geeks at the above-mentioned board, Casey plays the wrong side of a record -- Glass Bottle's "I Ain't Got Time Anymore" gets the accidental B-side treatment. Too bad, I love that one.

Freddie Hart sez evvah-day's Thanksgiving; Casey's still perpetuating the Diana Ross-discovered-the-Jackson 5 lie. But VHM "Surrender" anyway.

and another VHM Tommy Roe's underrated cover of "Stagger Lee".

Roe's SL was NTM; I'd have thought it was Johnny Rivers without the ID.  And I'm kinda digging this Glass Bottle B-side, which I'd never have heard if not for the gaffe.

Casey tells a nice story about the perseverance of the Dells, who wow me with "The Love We Had Stays on My Mind."

BOS2 the mighty mighty Dells, "The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)"

VHMs Rufus Thomas' "The Breakdown" and Noel "Paul" Stookey's "Wedding Song".

BOS3 Hari Georgeson, "Bangla Desh"; BOS4 and proxy-of-Gaz, Free Movement "I Found Someone Of My Own".

Oh, and I just discovered KFRC is now running the show on Saturday morning from 10 to 1 -- same as our Canadian friends. I'll stick with the Canuck version; at least it's in Ontario Stereo.

ETA: glad you're here, Gaz.

BOS "Bangla-Desh," a noble effort though a failed one.

A pre-emptive answer record to "Torn Between Two Lovers"?

VHM 3DN; BOS5 to an all-time-fave of mine from Bobby "Mr Vicki Lawrence" Russell, channelling Roger Miller rather nicely.

WOS to an all-time-HFH of mine: The Persuaders, "Thin Line etc" Are you HAWN-gry HAWN-ey?

Mike, I know how much you hate the Persuaders' trip to the hos-pi-TUUHHL, but I love this song.  What do you think of the Pretenders' cover?

Did you notice he gets Harry's gender wrong in the last verse?

O Canada!  I could hardly have hoped for a finer AT40 Extra than Lighthouse's "One Fine Morning."

Well, he'll always be a "he" to them, I guess -- as to the Pretenders cover of "Thin Line", it's better because Chrissie changes the lyric. At age 16, I found the whole image of this big black guy getting beaten within a inch of his life by a woman absurd and laughable, and yet the reading is sooooo serious. To paraphrase Tim Goodman, "everything I know about black people I learned from pop music".

OMG -- Casey does his own Canadian extra with your beloved Lighthouse!

But this "she talks crazy talk" is familar, yet I can't ID.  And The Guess Who are coming up in the next hour.

NTM, and I find it almost as baffling as "Albert Flasher."  I appreciate their going out on a limb, but wtf.
