Barry M wants Sweet Melissa to "come... come!" If she's relying on him, it'll be a looooong wait.  But VHM anyway.

BOS9 the Isleys, and all that bullshit goin' down.

Oh, Ms. Janis Ian, you're not ugly. Just painfully plain. VHM "At 17".

H, JF & R are fawwin' in wuv -- too bad they never teamed up with Kenny Nolan.

'80s Casey on Huey's mom's pals in SF: "bearded poets in black berets"!  God would I have enjoyed knowing 18-year-old Hugh Cregg.

and Casey's '80s is from Sept 19th 1987:

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/09-20-87.pdf

The cue sheet had a cover letter that gave stations the option of George Michael's song. Did many stations actually delete "I Want Your Sex"?

Thanks for pointing that out.  I love the closing sentiment - "Looks like this'll be the last week for George - I hope we will correspond soon under less sexually explicit circumstances!"  Was it indeed IWYS's last week in the 40?

Yes it was. It was at 48 on September 27, 1987.

Side note: If anyone listens to the show, you might get a chuckle on the story Casey tells about George being an ugly duckling and he changed thus helping him date women.

I'm not sure if it has many merits, actually.  It was painfully old-fashioned even in '75, when it was much-ridiculed (his accent admittedly didn't help). If it had been done in the '80s by Julio Iglesias, it would've been cheesily "retro", but in the mid-'70s it was just schmaltz.

I remember the Gong Show did a whole show where everyone came out and sang Feelings.  Chuck Barris is a frickin genius.

KFRC 1550AM isn't airing AT40 again today.  Have they dropped it or moved it?

I'm hoping they just moved it (since the Raiders pre-game is on at 8:00 when they're the "early" NFL game) but their website is no help.

a couple of crappy, parenthetically-titled, not-well-remembered ones back-to-back: Mr Mister's "Something Real (Inside Me/Inside You)" and Starship's "It's Not Over ('Til it's Over) " -- can't believe the latter actually made the Top Ten. I'm tempted to WOS both, but here's Bryan Adams with "Victim Of Love" which is even worse. Thank gawd for Madonna who gets a VHM for one of her lesser efforts, "Causing a Commotion"

yeah -- women like Brooke Shields. That shoulda been a dead giveaway right there.

and BTW, "I Want Your Sex" is really quite awful. Always has been. Cringe-inducing lyrics. whothehell has ever *said* "I want your sex"?

The Cars' "You Are the Girl" is notable as their last Top 40 single.

Finally, some quality:  BOSes 1 & 2 to Alex O'Neal's fab "Fake" and Danny Wilson's gorgeous "Mary's Prayer".  And inbetween, a VHM for Bowie's forgotten "Never Let Me Down"

BOS3 Levert's "Casanova"; Casey's story about Natalie Cole's recovery from coke addiction comes 5 songs after we heard Dionne Warwick -- LOL!

uber-WOS Heart, "Who Will You Run To?" -- Diane Warren is evil and must be destroyed!

VHM smoove Smokey, "One Heartbeat"

BOS4 Prince w/Sheena -- color them peach and black! color me taken aback!  boy vs. girl in the World Series of Love! Let's get to rammin'!

HM LLCoolJ, his abs and his orchestra.

much cool stuff, but be advised: according to the geeks at the above-mentioned board, Casey plays the wrong side of a record -- Glass Bottle's "I Ain't Got Time Anymore" gets the accidental B-side treatment. Too bad, I love that one.

Freddie Hart sez evvah-day's Thanksgiving; Casey's still perpetuating the Diana Ross-discovered-the-Jackson 5 lie. But VHM "Surrender" anyway.

and another VHM Tommy Roe's underrated cover of "Stagger Lee".

This played-by-mistake Glass Bottle tune ("This is the First Time"?) ain't bad -- kinda Brooklyn Bridge-y

But lawd'a'mercy! BOS1 Denise LaSalle's scorchin' "Trapped By a Thing Called Love".
