Actually, we could do this in a meaningful way:

Don Fardon, "Indian Reservation" (the Raiders' cover was far better, but this version is more bitter)

The Monkees, "Mommy and Daddy" (Micky's subversive lyric: "Ask your mommy and daddy what happened to the Indian / How come they're all living in places with too much snow or too much sun" -- it scans musically better than it reads on page)

something by Redbone?
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

don't forget "Geronimo's Cadillac".  Actually, I was hoping for "10 10@10s for 10/10" but I guess they decided to forgo that little stunt this year.

Are any of you familiar with J.D. Blackfoot's "The Song of Crazy Horse"?  It's a whole album side.  J.D. is a Native American & it's a very rueful epic.

You took his land & you ate his corn.
On his grave your land was born.
You took his pride and you fed him dirt.
You wished him winter without a shirt.
And you called this Red Man
SAVAGE.
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

no relation to J. Blackfoot, the R&B singer, I assume?

there were a number of songs about the plight of the Indian back in the '70s but I'm totally blanking on titles.

ugh... 1987. Unless Dave finally plays Aretha & George, I have no hope for this to be good.

VHM to the horns on this Fab T-Birds song, even if structurally the song is a total rip of "Tuff Enuff."

Would you settle for Jim and Tammy Faye as a closet case + an oversize diva?

VHM Peter & Kate, "Don't Give Up". The Willie & Sinead cover is nice too -- KFOG played it for about a minute back in '92 or '93.

Aretha & George never ripped off little old ladies, as far as I know...  but I bet they could build a helluva theme park.  Look mommy, it's the "Turn a Different Corner" Roller Coaster!

BOS to New Order, "True Faith."  One of the best songs -- and videos -- of the decade.  This band was made for autumn.
