here's one I've never heard: Peter Skellern (who?) doing "You're a Lady" which was once a flop single for Tony Orlando.  Big hit in the UK in '72, apparently.

Lost gem on CG: "Forget Me Not", martha & the vandellas from '71, a Vietnam-era "you're going off to war, i'll wait for you" tune that didn't do much in the states.

Isn't that the most bizarre dynamic for a song ever?  They're singing so emphatically yet so blase-ly at the same time, and I'm attracted to it in the same way that I'm attracted to outsider art.  Can someone make some sense of this for me?
