« on: July 23, 2012, 10:51:16 AM »
been a while since I listened to marilynn's dirty blues on KPOO. "keep on churnin' 'til the butter comes" -- oh my.

wow: Mae West, "I likes a guy what takes his time"

wow WDAS just played the looooong version of the O'Jays "992 Arguments" -- notorious as a very short (2:21) single. The extended version, which was NTM, was over 6 mins.

2NG's retro-chart is also from July '69 -- should be fab.  In keeping with the '69-for-Mick's-'69th theme, "Honky Tonk Women" was #1 that week.

OMFG: The Move, "Curly", followed by the Supes' fab "No Matter What Sign You Are" which I very nearly requested from AL today. "Your water sign just lit mah fire!"

ooo! Vanity fare's "Early in the Morning", which I much prefer to "Hitchin a Ride". And I adore the Dells' "Love is Blue/Sing a Rainbow" medley.  But lo: Georgie Fame doing "Peaceful" 3 years before Helen Reddy's version. And Peter Sarstedt's *other* hit, "Frozen Orange Juice" -- wonder if Minute Maid ever licensed this one?

Love Affair with one of their endless stream of "Everlasting Love" soundalikes; the Four Tops with "What is a man?" which was bigger in the UK than over here.

Damn: Just tuned in to WDAS-AM and they announced that their midday jock, Joe "Butter" Tamburro -- a longtime Philly radio legend who was also the Program Director -- passed away this morning. RIP.
