Gynneth Paltrow must be stopped!

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/gwyneth-paltrow-stop-singing/story?id=13019683

Nikki Finke said this during her live oscar bloggin' on Feb 27 (http://www.deadline.com/2011/02/nikkis-5th-annual-oscars-live-snarking/)

"How incredibly inauthentic to have Gwyneth Paltrow, who was raised and schooled in the poshest part of NYC, affect a Nashville twang and belt out a country song. Hollywood, you can't fool all the people all the time -- which is why Country Strong tanked at the box office."

agreed!

NTM, thanks to DJ Marilynn on KPOO: Jackie Shane, a cross-dressing Canadian R&B singer (!):

http://www.jezebelmusic.com/6886/jackie-shane/

Marilynn is playing a live album of his featuring fine covers of things like "Knock on Wood" and "Don't Play That Song".

If any of you are fans of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," here's John Legend's inspired a capella take on it:

“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Listening to Scelsa's show and he's playing the new Marianne Faithfull album. She does a nice cover of Carole King's "Goin' Back"

NTM, tho' it's apparently 3 years old...  Just heard this song on 1340 The Boardwalk. To my ears, it sounded like a Martha Wash-type black woman.  Imagine my surprise when I saw the video:

talk about a disconnect!  It just doesn't seem like that voice is coming out of that face.

So Anastacia is back, eh?  She had my #58 song of 2000 with "I'm Outta Love," which tried a few times but never won too many stations over. (Hits 106 had it in high rotation, though.)  She sounded the same back then, too...I think she was about 22. She also had another song a few years later which did a little better, but not much: http://wweb.uta.edu/faculty/gghunt/charts/anastacia.html

A couple months old, but Little Steven's "Coolest Song" this week is by Social Distortion!  "California Hustle & Flow" was recommended to Steven by Mr Springsteen, of all people...

The Shatner album we've always hoped for (or feared):

impressive guest list, at least.
