Why people watch FOX Sports with the sound down, part XXXVIII: Tim McCarver, talking about Edgar Renteria just now, said he was beloved in "Colombia, the country from which he reigns". Er, "reigns"? I mean, he's popular but he's not King or anything. Sheesh.

He don't practice Renteria. He don't need no crystal ball.

Oy, wheels offically off the bus tonite. Phillies ahead 6-1 after 7.

Hey, coming home tied at 1 apiece is far better than down two games to none. And we've still got home field advantage. Btw, Tuesday's game is at 1:20pm. I suspect very little will get done in SF offices after lunchtime that day. Start planning your excuses now.
Let's get right to it.

I'm really torn about this series. I rarely root for the Yanks, but I took such pleasure in a screenshot I saw of W. and Nolan Ryan wearing very sour faces after the Rangers blew the game on Friday, I am sorely tempted to not do anything to wish them any more pleasure in this series.

That said, Cliff Lee was awesome tonight. Lights out, a complete master.

Yeah, I had the same impressions.  First I root for the Rangers, cuz of the Yankees, then I think of local boy Sabathia, then I see George Freakin' W Bush!  Oy!  So confusing.

OMG Ben Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie singing our National Anthem.  Quite lovely.
Barry Bonds threw out the first pitch.  Good to see him in a jersey again.
Zooey Deschanel sang God Bless America.   :)
GO GIANTS!!!

Yanks losing again, so far: it's 5-3 Texas in the 7th.  I hate the Yankees WAY more than I hate Dubya.  ;)

This morning KFOG was giving away Guster tix; the contest was "things that rhyme with Guster". First question: "He's a hit in the playoffs, this Giants catcher named Posey..."  And the Foghead on the phone had NO clue.

and the Rangers end up winning 10-3. I loves me some Bengie Molina.

OTOH, Sharks are looking crappy so far.

well, to be fair, Buster the Guster is batting .091 against Philly, so that hint "he's a hit in the playoffs" is misleading.

If the clue had been "he's a strikeout or a popout to shallow right in the series," I'm sure the drooling Froghead would have been all over it.

I really hate these "25 biggest _______" lists. The 25 Biggest Sports Blowhards: they name Jon Miller (?!?), who's (a) the furthest thing from a blowhard IMHO and (b) spends half his ESPN airtime trying to prevent Joe Morgan from being excessively blowhardy -- and Morgan ISN'T on the list? And where's the obnoxious Max Kellerman?
