I mentioned the other day that KCDX's stream had been down for at least a month -- I emailed them today to see what's up and got a bounce-back that said their mailbox is full!  Another one bites the dust. Which just... bites.

Something interesting from -- of all sources -- Clear Channel. It's where they test and tweak formats: FormatLab.

http://www.clearchannelmusic.com/formatlab/

Tons of different formats to listen to, all commercial-free. I'll start investigating further on Friday.

So I'm listening to their "Pride Radio -- a channel for the gay community". And so far I've heard

Some hip-hop song i didn't recognize
"What I Like About You", Romantics
"Read My Mind", Killers
"I'll be Loving You", Collage
something else current I don't recognize

uh, this is "gay"... how, exactly?

Switched to their "Classic dance" channel, expecting a lot of disco, and to my delight I'm hearing Peter Godwin, "Images of Heaven"!

Remember they're in Texas. No telling how they interpret the typical "gay" listener.
Let's get right to it.

LOL! Then they should be playing that Willie Nelson gay-cowboy song!   A number of Clear Channel stations apparently run that "Pride radio" thing on their HD-2 subchannel.  Maybe the jocks are all like "Fernando & Greg" from Energy 92.7 (But i hope not).

Speaking of HD radio, I ran into Our Man Beej on Muni a few days ago (he sends his love) and he mentioned that he's been listening to the KFOG All-10@10 HD channel on the HD radio his sweetie gave him for Xmas. So I guess they've got it up and running, but haven't been promo'ing it much.
Let's get right to it.

KFRC's Kasey Kountdown takes us to Jan. 17, 1976.  At 40: "Love, Be Tender With My Fanny."  Chart curiosity: the oldest song on the countdown is "Fly, Robin, Fly," at a meager 13 weeks.

Hamilton, Joe Frank and no Reynolds at 22 with "Winners and Losers," sounding rather a bit like David Cassidy on the vocals.

And now Neil Sedacky remaking his "Breaking Up," sounding like a tipsy chanteur at Don't Tell Mama.

Another in the annals of nonsense lyrics: "You made a fool of me / But those broken dreams have got to end."  Wha?  Still love the song, though.
