Finally getting a good dose of KPOO, sans buffering.

Two versions of The Thrill is Gone back to back (BB's and Aretha's) and now we've got Ree-ree singing straight gospel with a full choir behind her.  Say Hallelujah!
Let's get right to it.

My god, it sounds like the J5 covering Sly's Stand. Can it be...? (And a note-for-note rendition at that--they didn't bother changing the arrange ment even a little bit.)

Wow, this guy Judge, who's the KPOO jock from noon to 4, could be Greg Edwards' long-lost brother. Similar voice, similar style.

Here Come the Judge!  Missed it today, but he does dig deep.  Love his political clips too. I seem to recall the J-5 doing "Stand" on their TV special, circa 1970.
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

CGSS: Hold Back the Night! And I thought this was a Graham Parker song. No idea who this version is, but I dig it. Any idea which came first? Mike? Gaz? Bueller?

The Trammps ("Disco Inferno") did the song first, peaking at #35 in 1976; Graham Parker and the Rumour took it to #58 a year later.

PAPER SUN. Traffic. Love this. Great tune. Space out. Even on the computer I'm getting great sound left and right.

Now that's timing--just clamped on my cans in time to catch Waterloo Sunset on the rock show--one of my alltime fave Kinks songs. more than makes up for missing Paper Sun.

"As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset...I am in paradise...."

Phil without the Dead huh? Seems like there's still a rift there to some extent, particularly since he wasn't at the Jerry tribute a month back either.

Good luck with tickets--I'd bet the two you want to see are tougher tickets than the NYE show, although the Warfield should be not too tough.

I'm going to mail order for them. I have had 100% success with mail order in the past. I decorate my envelopes nicely.

Two tix limit for Fill and War. They only have package deals where you get the NYE show too. I guess I could sell that one.

Good move; I missed her last year.

Got my three money orders today. A friend said he'd buy the NYE tix so I'm set. Envelope decorated, stuffed and ready to mail on Monday.
I saw Joan with the whole gang on Feb 14 a few years back at the Warfield. I saw them previous to that at HJ Kaiser and can't remember if she sang there. Fuzzy memory.
