 3. A Tribe Called Quest - Buggin' Out
(TV: The Arsenio Hall Show - Valerie Bertinelli)
 4. Material Issue - Valerie Loves Me
 5. Prince and the New Power Generation - Cream
(Commercial: MC Hammer for Pepsi)
 6. Matthew Sweet - Don't Go
 7. Nirvana - Lounge Act

 9. Tina Turner - The Bitch Is Back
10. My Bloody Valentine - Soon

https://soundcloud.com/retrocapnjack/125-10-10-1991

Originally, I had planned this set prior to Renee's recent set, and, with Big Finger McGee's request for "10 great songs, 1 great name" set,
I postponed uploading this set until now.  Let me know what you think!

Looking good, and as usual there are 2-3 big hits which would sound great but have escaped 10@10's notice.

What, pray tell, is the dischead 1970 test?  Is it how much I like the set?  That's great for me, but
no so much for someone whose taste does not align with mine.

I've been thinking about what would be a great set from 1970 or 1971.  To be honest, I'm not
sure if I can assemble a list that would meet my own standards.

This was delightful. Gems you never hear mixed with a few that were NTM (Partridges, Bobby Bloom).  Love that Van Morrison tune, used effectively in The Royal Tenenbaums. Which makes you the Wes Anderson of 10@10.

and another swell collection! I *adored* that Belouis Some song back then; one of the best Bowie imitations evah. "Invincible" is one of my fave Benatar 45s. Mr Parker's sweet hommage to "Just My Imagination" sounds even better 30 years later.

Wow.  That looks very interesting.  And clips -- you have clips!  Excellent.

The Rod Stewart song is on my oboe list -- I missed the horn.  I would have gone with the
Who's Overture from Tommy.  I also have The Rascals' (I've Been) Lonely Too Long on
my list, although the horn isn't that prominent.  I'll have to make the effort to listen to this one.

Well, if that was so easy, how about pop tuba?  Pop bassoon?

This was brilliant. I knew a number of these, but didn't recognize the french horn in their arrangements. The Nilsson, Pretenders, and EC tunes were probably my faves of the bunch, but all great.  And you had all four of the great British Invasion bands represented, more or less (Beatles, Stones, Who & Kinks).

So you pulled off the French horn? How about the bassoon? Or oboe? Or perhaps all double-reed woodwinds?  Tears of a Clown is a must, but there are lots of others that use one or more of these, so you could really have some fun. A couple of the songs from the above set would qualify here too, but I'd suggest they be disqualified just for diversity's sake.

ETA: I just read thru a few of the other posts commenting on this set and see that dischead also called out for a bassoon/oboe set. I'd call that a groundswell of demand!
