Nice! A larger percentage of tunes I remember from that era, and the ones I didn't all sounded good. Particular props for the REM, Joan Jett, and Bryan Ferry tunes--oh, and Peter Wolf, too. The only negative comment is that the Club Nouveau tune sounds really dated by now. Another excellent job researching pulling soundbites, too. 

So when can we get you to repost that '65 set you did a week or two back? I missed it on the first go-round. Ditto for the '96, iirc.

In response to Renee's "short songs" comment, I specifically looked for songs from that year that
lasted at least four minutes - hence the four "blues" numbers that open the set.  I admittedly went
overboard by track #9, but what the hell.

As one example, consider my notes for the
Friday Night Champagne Remix of "Time Has Come Today" from 11-Jun-04:

Whew!

Easily one of the greatest single things ever heard in 10@10 history.  To which I would add the various "mega-mixes" he did, usually for either "Hits From Hell" or "Turkeys" sets (Cher, Barry Manilow, Ray Stevens)  or just because (the amazing Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair medleys and the "Desiderata"/"Deteriorata" mash-up).

I can cite three or four more examples of where Dave created news
montages and overdubbed them in the middle or at the end of songs, which
suggests he did this with some regularity.  And many of his inter-song
clips were montages.  Just recently I was listening to one of his
mystery sets, and as he did so often, there was a collection of incorrect
guesses in the middle.  And then it struck me -- he fielded the phone
calls from listeners, recorded them, edited them into a montage, and
played it less than halfway through the set, all while he was spinning
the songs.  It gave me new appreciation for his skill.  Can you imagine
the current host being able to do that?

I would guess that one reason we aren't getting any mystery sets these
days is that it would require playing a lot more obscure tracks, and as
we've seen, 10@10 has become in large part "all the hits, all the time."

Could have done without the Nilsson, in this case.  I was watching a doc on him the other day that mentioned his foray into the standards.  I guess this is one of them.  Not bad, per se, but it didn't do much for me either.

Given that we've hit the '70s twice already this week, my money is against it.

I agree.  I think '71 was our "sixties" set.  Although I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised, I would
wager that it will either be early '90s, or... ack!  No, I can't even say it!

I am thrilled to get 1964 on top of the '71 and '75 sets we have heard already this week. But the pessimist in me has to assume this is a bone being tossed to the older demographic to keep us engaged.  If I'm right, the next few weeks will be  predominantly 1983 and newer, and we won't hit the 60s again 'til sometime in late May.

I doubt it. Here the stats of the number of (week)days between '60s sets in the RR/DC era:

8, 6, 7, 9, 7, 6, 17, 5, 10, 6, 12, 9, 6, and 17.  I'm guessing we'll have another '60s set this month.

pretty rich selection.  A lot is NTM so it was a nice eye-opening ride.  Kudos on the Terry Kath-sung "Jenny," though I thought he was saying Jinny at first.  I'm still hearing it as I type, but that's my BOS so far.

The Long Goodbye, I've seen that movie several times, but finally decided I don't like Elliot Gould in that.   I often mutter to myself about "Coury brand cat food," though.
