I need to catch the replay tonight.  Too busy today at work, only caught bits and pieces.  The Lou Reed caught my ear as something new and perhaps interesting.  And I'm not familiar with the Steve Miller tune.

This was about as good a balance between LNs and rarities, between pop hits and AOR staples, as we've had with Renee. That's always easier to do in the '70s, of course, but still.

I don't think any of us were familiar with that Steve Miller tune. Although Geoff is yet to be heard from.

Yes, that's as good a set as Renee has done--this and her Dec 21 End of the World set are my two faves, if I had to pick.
Let's get right to it.

A while back a friend and I would exchange concept albums based on year of release (yes, 10@10 was an influence). "Journey from Eden" was received by me as part of a 1972 disc. I will add that the same friend put "The Long And Winding Road" onto a 2000 disc.

*somebody* played "Journey From Eden" withinh the last year or so; I was thinking it was AL but if not then it was Rob on The Peak.  I can't imagine where else I would've heard it.  Guess DC is a "musicologist" after all.

I'm not recognizing this thing about blackbirds. Steve Miller?

It does sound like him.

And it is: Journey from Eden

I'm probably in the minority, but I like his poppy stuff better.
One of my favorite Steve Miller songs of all time.  The reason why I'm tuning in tonight for the replay.

I don't know where DC is from, but it was played a lot on KSAN back in the day.

ETA: Best bass line of set too!
