So this commercial for Guinness Black comes on: charming Irish guy with 2 babes getting into a cab. And he looks REALLY familiar... I finally realize it's the guy from Boardwalk Empire who plays the man with half a face. Wow.

Just heard that Progressive insurance commercial, with a singer that someone on FB described as sounding "like Taylor Dayne and MeatLoaf had a baby" -- damned if that isn't an on-the-nose description. Oy.

Heard an ad that used the instrumental track from CCR's Down on the Corner as a bed, and damned if I can remember what it was for. Guess it wasn't that good an ad. :D
Let's get right to it.

I mentioned it on the previous page: Walgreens. (their tagline is "At the corner of _________"; as in "at the corner of healthy & happy" or "... smart & thrifty" or fill-in-the-blank).

Me-TV has started showing vintage commercials: Petula Clark singing the praises of some car in the '60s; Rob & Laura Petrie washing dishes with Joy liquid.  Kinda cool.

ETA: apparently this is a regular thing on ME-TV but most affiliates sell local spots in place of the retro ads, so a lot of folks (including us in the SF Market) don't see them.  I guess KOFY's sales staff were asleep at the switch this month. I'd love to see more of them.

Lance Bass is doing commercials for Miracle Whip. "This is Lance Bass, reminding you to keep an open mouth". Words fail me.
