a BIG-deal, homophobic Fundie minister, Ted Haggard, has apparently been outed:

http://www.9news.com/acm_news.aspx?OSGNAME=KUSA&IKOBJECTID=a73db9d1-0abe-421a-01ee-15ec09b8ff7d&TEMPLATEID=0c76dce6-ac1f-02d8-0047-c589c01ca7bf

Haggard is VERY powerful -- he supposedly has a daily "conference call" with Dubya -- and is currently seen in both the documentary Jesus Camp and the docu by atheist Richard Dawkins, in which Haggard and Dawkins debate evolution.

I SOOOOOO hope that Mr. Jones has DNA evidence.

Colorado Springs is a scary fucking place.  The only thing better would be if someone caught James Dobson in flagrante dilecto with some kind of farm animal...or the decaying remains of Jon Benet Ramsey.

Haggard is the oiliest salesman I've ever seen. He's positively slimy in the Dawkins docu (which I highly recommend -- Dawkins is my new hero and he was paid the ultimate tribute last nite by being parodied on South Park).

I thought Haggard's quote was rather odd: "I've been steady with my wife..."  Uh... "steady"?? Notice he didn't say "faithful". Who the hell says "steady"?

Haggard steps aside at his church while an investigation proceeds:

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/11/02/national/a154054S61.DTL

Jones claimed Haggard paid him to have sex nearly every month over three years. He said he advertised himself as an escort on the Internet and was contacted by a man who called himself Art, who snorted methamphetamine before their sexual encounters to heighten his experience.  Jones said he later saw the man on television identified as Haggard and that the two last had sex in August.

He said he has voice mail messages from Haggard, as well as an envelope he said Haggard used to mail him cash. He declined to make the voice mails available to the AP, but KUSA-TV reported what it said were excerpts late Thursday that referred to methamphetamine.

CNN's now saying that there's been "some admission of guilt" from Haggard.  The juice is loose!

some great posts about this on Outsports -- including a few about the homoeroticism in the art that adorns his church...

He now admits to buying meth from the prostie. And may have asked for a "massage."  I hope it was the happiest motherfucking ending of his life since he's now going to lose his empire over it.

This is SO classic.  He admits to the drugs but not the gay sex (just like Ty Hendon, the country singer, a dozen or so years ago).  He can be "forgiven" for the drugs and the rest of it is just a "political smear" as far as his deep-in-denial followers are concerned.

I used to be very much against "outing" but now I want to see every one of these hypocritical motherf---kers FRY.

i watched part one of the dawkins docu last night. i wouldn't say he and haggard debated evolution, or if they did, it wasn't onscreen. dawkins seems to have an antagonistic (michael moore) interviewing approach, which easily solicits from his subjects the fervour he wishes to exploit. not the sort of objective research one expects from a scientist.

in any event, haggard and his "children," or "flock," or sheep are exactly the kind of robots we should fear, and i appreciated the parallel drawn between them and radical islamists. they reminded me of my own jubilee! experience as a youth, and, of course, i had nightmares.

our god is an awesome god.

Democratic control of the House is assured, and Nancy Pelosi has just become the most powerful woman in US history.

As of 1:30 am EST, all but the last three Senate races have been called, with the Repugnicans sitting at 49 and the Dems at 48.  The last three races are VA, MO & MT, and the Dems are leading in each.  Tester has a 4% lead in MT, which seems all but over.

In MO McCaskill has a little more than 1% lead with 84% of precincts reporting.  I know from experience in MO that the precincts that stay open latest usually are in Metro St. Louis & KC, which are heavily Democratic.  So that bodes well.  I want to see Talent go down, as he unseated Mel Carnahan's widow in a special election in '02 (after she'd gotten the seat by virtue of her dead husband outpolling John Ashcroft).  In VA there seems likely to be a recount as, with 100% of precincts reporting, Webb leads Allen by 2,226 votes (out of 2,284,786 cast, or 0.0974%).

So a 50-50 split seems the worst outcome at this moment, and if Webb's slim majority holds up the Dems will have control of the Senate as well.

YIPPIE KAI YAY, MOTHERF***ERS!!!!!

I have to ask this: As a moderate Republican, am I they closest to the right then anybody else on this board. Am I the only registered Repubican. I assume all of you are liberal Democrats (most of my friends are liberal Democrats and we NEVER talk politics for the sake of our friendship).

Well, you're probably way to the right of most, but hard to tell.  Some of us lose our cool from time-to-time, but would probably agree that 'it's the music, dummy!' would trump most things.  It's probably good to have a Republican around, as most of us can't quite fathom how the GOP brain works, and you might shed some light on that.
