Democratic control of the House is assured, and Nancy Pelosi has just become the most powerful woman in US history.
As of 1:30 am EST, all but the last three Senate races have been called, with the Repugnicans sitting at 49 and the Dems at 48. The last three races are VA, MO & MT, and the Dems are leading in each. Tester has a 4% lead in MT, which seems all but over.
In MO McCaskill has a little more than 1% lead with 84% of precincts reporting. I know from experience in MO that the precincts that stay open latest usually are in Metro St. Louis & KC, which are heavily Democratic. So that bodes well. I want to see Talent go down, as he unseated Mel Carnahan's widow in a special election in '02 (after she'd gotten the seat by virtue of her dead husband outpolling John Ashcroft). In VA there seems likely to be a recount as, with 100% of precincts reporting, Webb leads Allen by 2,226 votes (out of 2,284,786 cast, or 0.0974%).
So a 50-50 split seems the worst outcome at this moment, and if Webb's slim majority holds up the Dems will have control of the Senate as well.
YIPPIE KAI YAY, MOTHERF***ERS!!!!!
