VHM to Mr. Dacres

is that a contraction of "Dekker" and "Aces"?

That's his real name, Desmond Dacres.  I guess they felt "Dekker" would be easier to pronounce for the non-French.

And gee, how long til POC gives BOS to "Compared to What?"
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

The Elvis cover of this is sweet, too. It's featured in that movie of one of his Vegas concerts. Elvis forgets the lyrics halfway through and simply walks to the back of the stage (still in full view of the audience), pulls out his notes (a folded piece of paper), reads it over for a few secs and then jumps back into the song.

which song?

Not very, I'm thinking. This is the version she likes too, Les McCann (as opposed to Brian Auger.)
Let's get right to it.

so, you know, this is my favorite song of all time!

this concert was filmed, as well as recorded. in the film, ellafitz walks in about halfway through this song. the camerman pans from the stage to capture her entrance. she waves at the band, and sits down. at the end of the song, les introduces ella to the audience. everyone starts clapping. ella stands up, and say, 'please forgive me for being so late!'

now THAT's class.

I thought I remembered reading that this is one of those songs written with him in mind that he originally turned down... and then began covering in concert after it was a hit for somebody else.  There's another that's on the tip o' me tongue...

VHM Thundercalp Newman. Is this album still in print? Another song from it, "Accidents", got quite a bit of Prog FM play at the time. Haven't heard it in 30 years, easily.

Taking a guess, but is that "Until It's Time for You to Go"?
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
