BOS Joan Jett just for not being "ILRnR".
Could the hipper and/or younger ones ID the songs?  Yes, it sounds like Joan Jett, but I have no idea what song/album it is.

jeez, geoff -- it's not like this is a 1998 set or something. ;)
I never really liked JJ, so why would I know her whole catalog?

it's one of her top five songs, prolly.   even the casual listener might be familiar, and it's got such a hook.  When I'm your age (fingers crossed!) I plan to sing this song while riding Muni, wandering around supermarkets, etc.  :)

She's a Bad Mamma Jamma is heard a lot on 98.1 KISS FM, which I know we ALL listen to.
Hah! I was just gonna say: VHM Carl Carlton, unless you listen to Kiss-FM alot, in which case LN.
What's the KISS format?
R&B hits of the 70s, 80s (with some 60s and 90s)

sorry, I tend to assume we were all listening to rock radio in 1981, in which case this was played pretty often.
Since KFOG started up this format in '82, I'm not exactly sure what I was listening to in '81.  What was on in SF at the time?

What's the KISS format?

Their tag line is "The Bay's Old School" and they play R&B from the 70s and 80s mainly.  You'll hear Michael Jackson, Heatwave, H&O, etc.

Their meta description says "98.1 KISS FM is The Bay's Old School featuring Ac Urban radio live from San francisco, Ca at 981kissfm.com."

I've always like this Greg Khin song.

Not the Rats tune I requested (or the one Deanna requested either) but BOS2 anyway.

KKSF was kind of cool until it totally jumped the punk shark.  What was the call letters of that station Morey worked at before KFOG?  I listened to them for a while.
