So I had one of the more depressing days of my life today. We had to put our dog, Charlie, to sleep this afternoon. He a was 15 1/2 and had seriously degrading arthritis in his hips, and we could tell that he was getting worse day by day. Then the last week or so his appetite had fallen off, and there were other signs he wasn't doing well. This morning he couldn't even raise himself from his bed, and I knew it had to be soon. Probably the toughest decision I've ever had to make, but it was the right one as I know he's not suffering. He was a black retriever and border collie mutt, and the best dog I ever had, so full of love and devotion to Sarah and I, his people.
Farewell, my pal. I'll see you on the other side.
