Ya know, as much as I hate Newt, it's Santorum that really scares me. He's W without a sense of humor. And I mean that literally.

yeah -- Newt for better or worse has had a lot of his moral shortcomings exposed for all to see. Santorum strikes me as another guy who has deep dark secrets. As most folks who can't shut up about "morality" usually do.

a great WashPo piece about Santorum. hat tip to DB on FB.

The Washington Post editorial page has been on an anti-Santorum blitz. I wonder if they want to see Romney in the White House, or if it's the more obvious, don't want to see an unfit President, explanation.

The Washington Post is prob pro-Obama.  They've always been pretty liberal.  The Washington Times is another story, they lean pretty right.

The Times have been a changin' for The Post. They've been tilting rightward for awhile, especially on the editorial page. That's why I'm wondering if they wouldn't mind seeing the Establishment GOP choice Romney eventually end up in the White House, or at least want to avoid the presumed slaughter Santorum would suffer at the hands of Obama. They did endorse Obama in '08, but that was kind of a no-brainer. I realize that Wikipedia is not an authoritative source, but there are lot of sources cited within:

Salon.com which is reputed to have a decidedly liberal bent seems to view the Post as predominantly right wing:

This s**t was particularly outrageous:

"The editor denied knowing the details of the sponsored, off-the-record salons featuring Washington Post reporters that the newspaper was selling access to for $25,000 to $250,000, but according to Ellison the damage may already be done."

Posted this on FB too, and yes Aaron Sorkin has a new TV show to promote, but damn this is a great quote from him regardless:

"Nobody uses the word 'lie' anymore. Suddenly, everything is 'a difference of opinion.' If the entire House Republican caucus were to walk onto the floor one day and say 'The Earth is flat,' the headline on the New York Times the next day would read 'Democrats and Republicans Can't Agree on Shape of Earth.' I don't believe the truth always lies in the middle. I don't believe there are two sides to every argument. I think the FACTS are the center."

listening to WDAS-AM out of Philly -- a classic soul station with an older black demographic, certainly. And they're running lots of (what I assume are) Romney SuperPac ads decrying Obamacare as "the largest tax increase ever" yadda yadda yadda.

It's gonna be an ugly next 4 months.

beyond ugly.  Ugly is saying nasty things that could be true or are just exaggerations.  The GOP is jumping head first in the total lies/1984/up-is-down kind of shit.  Yeah, it's gonna be ugly, fugly, whateverthefucknplugly!

And Snider is reportedly a Republican.

The first-ever campaign film, from 1912 -- even then, the Repubs are fat-cat bankers, and the Dems are champions of the working class.

Sure Obama was terrible in the debate, but on what planet was Romney good? He looked more sure of himself while delivering irrelevant nonsense that has nothing to do with how he would govern?

Well put.  I think we can all agree that Obama seemed to not swat Romney down with all the ammo and opportunities he had.  I'm not sure, but earlier in the day, the right-wing blogosphere tried to smear him as racist by releasing an old video.  Perhaps Barack is just doing the Jackie Robinson thing; he has to stay cool, even when he has the right to get angry.  It seemed to kind of immobilize him. How many fucking times did Mitt spew the $716B bullshit about Medicare?  Obama explained it once, and Romney never stopped riffing on it.
