24 June 2011: The Pride Set
« on: June 21, 2011, 03:48:10 PM »
yes, we already know we're getting a rerun of last year's, which means we'll be hearing Carl Bean's fantabulous "I Was Born This Way"... and I stumbled across this interesting post, on a blog I'm unfamiliar with, about Bean, Lady Gaga etc.

I seem to remember Rufus Wainwright making an appearance in last year's set.  If so, yay!

Hmmmm... it appears to be a new set. I've requested the old standby "Girls And Boys".

AL's request thread is quite underwhelming, IMHO.

But the "WTF?" post in that thread is this from a guy named David Benda: "thanks for the warning...right up there w/ the old 'sledgehammers' and dedication/'I'm so precious' nonsense we used to dread."

er, whaa??

Whatever on the silly FBer requests/comments (not ours!). I'm looking forward to the new spin. Any Sylvester is good for me.

The lead singer (the cop) had quite a struggle with life, substance abuse, homelssness.   He lived in a squat on Page street back in the 90s with some other crack heads before they all got kicked out.  San Francisco, indeed.

Good to hear a song about PFLAG:  Take your momma out~!  Let's hear it for supportive parents!

"I went to a bar-mtzvah once, that doesn't make me Jewish": LOL! Can never remember where that's from.  BOS3 Blur, of course.

Blurring the gender codes and constructs between Girls and Boys gets a BOS.
