What everybody is waiting for: The late Laura Brannigan.

Valerie, Mary Anne, Gloria....who's next?

Honestly, until Will Ferrell had mentioned she died on a 2005 SNL, I had no idea she had passed.

oh my yes. uber-BOS3. fab Donna Summer imitation (c'mon, you thought it was her the first time you heard it)

I used to think Summer's "State Of Independence" was Brannigan.

We should make a list of the established rock acts who tried to make a New Wave-ish record circa 1980-83, and how many failed miserably.  This certainly qualifies.

The short list of those few who pulled it off includes Bowie & Robert Palmer, any others?

Linda Ronstadt could go either way. Let me think about that.

I'd say the same about Genesis, love "Abacab" (BOS #3) but not a lot of the rest.

and I give us all some kudos for not taking the bait on Mike's coment about Linda going either way.

I was just going to say - this is a prime example of prog rock trying to incorporate new wave, and I have to admit I like this.

one for the "Brits who've never been here writing lyrics about us" list. East California is... er... Nevada, Ms Wilde.
