24 December 2009: The KFOG Xmas Card of the Air
« on: December 17, 2009, 11:40:44 PM »
Just had the following message pop up on my FB feed, from KFOG:

"Call Annalisa at 1-800-300-KFOG between 11-4 tomorrow (Friday, 12/18) to record your audio greeting for the annual 10@10 holiday card."

Good on AL, continuing another of Dave's longstanding traditions. But from the sound of it, tomorrow's our only chance to call in greetings. So gather your thoughts and call her! (They didn't say when it'll air--my guess is next Wednesday or Thursday.)

ETA: As usual, my attempts at telling the future go down in flames. Just heard that AL will be doing the KFOG Xmas card on Monday. So today is definitely our only chance to record a greeting.

and (I'm guessing, based on previous years) it will be repeated Thurs morning and Friday evening -- they usually go commercial-free all-Xmas from noon Xmas Eve to noon Xmas Day.

Change of plans. AL tells me that the station's MD would prefer the Xmas Card set to run on Christmas Eve (which makes sense to me), so she'll be recording it ahead for play that day. :-/ Kind of a good news/bad news thing.

Just got the KFOG E-mail saying that the "holiday 10@10, complete with Foghead greetings" will air Thurs morning and Friday nite. In between we get 24 hours of World Class Rock Xmas music (from 3pm Thurs to 3pm Fri).

And we lead with Christmas Wrapping--a perpetual fave. Wonder what new entries AL will come up with this year, or will it be the standard evergreens? I'm happy either way.

I missed my favorite song, but just in time for my second favorite.  That's okay, I heard Christmas Wrapping several times already lately.
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

Greg Lake's I Believe In Father Christmas another welcome bit of ever-greenery.

So far the track listing is duplicating the 2002 Xmas Card set.

The Christmas we get, we deserve.

I know I've already heard it, but I love hearing "Happy Xmas/War is Over" in this context.

Peace to all of you currently online, and those who come by later.

The original (which this was) is billed as Greg Lake. ELP re-did it, iirc, with a different ending.

"Mr. Gay San Francisco"??  I don't remember him ever calling during the Dave years ;)  I'm guessing this will be 10 tried-and-true "Xmas classics", not that I'm complaining.

Yep, he was a new one. And what was with the guy with all the reverb? That was weird, but he did stand out.

Crap. Browser crashed. So we'll have a bit of a gap in the middle of the Pretenders tune. Sorry, gang.
