Nothing would scare me half as much as an "He wants you, too, Malachi!" clip.

scarier still: it looks like the princess subjected herself to that Nic Cage "Mandolin" movie.  Condolences, poc.

It was the only thing on telly in Dublin the other night. At least I learned all about the Italian occupation of Greece during WWII. And the subsequent German treatment of the Italian soldiers once Mussolini surrendered. And that John Hurt is a man of 1,000 faces. Not to mention Christian Bale!

VHM, The Coasters (and Lieber & Stoller) Poison Ivy.
Let's get right to it.

As much as I like the Coasters, I don't see what "Poison Ivy" has to do with Halloween.

Was that poem from Twilight Zone, with the evil dummy?

Not to mention Christian Bale!

I finally saw American Psycho recently -- dunno why I'd never seen it before. Wow.

WOS "Poison Ivy" -- not the scariest H'ween choice, AL.

courtesy of AMG:

The song was the band's first single, released in August 1979, and is often considered to be the first gothic rock record released.

The song is over nine minutes in length and was recorded "live in the studio" in a single take. David J, the band's bassist, claims on his website to have written the lyrics. By far their most famous work, its minimalist, free-form nature evoked a mixture of The Doors, early Pink Floyd and experimental 'Krautrock' bands such as Can and Neu. The singing does not start (in the studio version) until several minutes into the track. The dub-influenced guitar sound was achieved by using partial barre chords and allowing the top E and B strings open, adding to the drone-like quality of the song.

The title references horror film star Béla Lugosi (1882-1956), who did much to establish the modern vampire image as the title character in the 1931 film Dracula. (Lugosi was, in fact, buried in his Dracula cape - an event depicted in the film Ed Wood.

One more BOS, The Cramps! RIP, Lux Interior.

ETA: Is it just me, or are we over our 10-song allotment? Even with the lengthy Nick Cave Bauhaus tune, most of these songs are pretty short and it's 10 of 11, while we're still hearing Monster Mash.

Ann Margret holding a dummy might be the scariest sight of all time. Even scarier than Sir Hopkins in tight baby blue polyester slacks.
